well i dont overload it, so no, but i tend to do glass first then polish the paint, and protect the plastic so it wouldnt really matter anyways

Here are a couple of pics of the RO polisher/sander I got from B&Q. I put a Megs polishing pad on it so you can see how it looks. You can also see the speed dial on the top.

I was adding up all the stuff I've bought including pads, MF clothes, applicators, brushes etc etc. Its about £250!!!

I know people on here have spent way more then that, but it makes you wonder when you used just get a £8 bottle of polish/wax and put it on with an old towel!!

Got some new stuff to try from Motorgeek, finally a top-notch glass cleaner, Stoner's Invisible Glass has rave reviews! The Mothers Duration has been discontinued so I grabbed 2 of them, enough to last 2 years! DP spray surface shield and Max Wax are supposed to be awesome and don't cost that much either.

Mothers PowerBall and PowerMetal are for machine polishing metal, I have quite a bit of polished metal in my engine bay, this should make it a doddle and with better results too.

Yes they are a good place, I'll be using them for the Pakshak stuff.

Just now I'm using Optimum alot, both the polish and spray wax, very good stuff.

Hi

I've read this topic and now I can't make up my mind on what to use. These are the facts: my car it's 5 years old, has never been polished, it has a few swirls (5years it's something), and i only waxed it once with Turtlewax Metallic wax.

What do you recommend I use? (the colout it's dark green)

I was thinking of getting the Meguiar's Quick Clay (it needs it badly, the paint it's very harsh to the touch) and the Poorboy's SSR 2 or 2.5 as a polish/swirl/scratch remover.

If you have a PC then the choice is vast, but yes it sounds like you need to clay and then use a cutting polish or compound to smooth the paint and get rid of swirls. Megs clay is not that good, I'd go for a different one, ask Alex at Serious Performance as different grades of clay are available.

SSR2.5 might not be abrasive enough, but it's worth a go. Optimum compound and polish are very good, they work differently depending on which pad you use, orange for cutting, green for polishing etc. it's quite an amazing product.

TBH trying to clear swirls is nigh on impossible without a machine polisher, you might be able to clean off very light surface marks by hand but anything more and you'll struggle. I removed marks from my car very easily with the PC that I couldn't shift no matter what I tried by hand.

It may be heresy but I've had good results on fine scratches using T-cut by hand. This is the one intended for metallics which is probably a less harsh cut than traditional T-cut. I think it should work for swirls if you're careful. I personally wouldn't want to do the whole car with it, my arms would be falling off.
