I have been planning on getting the Meguairs cordless one for some time, just a matter of sparing with the cash. Still looking for a good deal.

Funny you should say that, i saw one of these in action today, was not impressed. PC or nothing it would seem. Another gadget to raise cash for.

yeh mate, the megs is ok for applying wax, nothing else, i have also heard stories of batteries only lasting 5 minutes too, the only nearest quality polisher to the PC is a £200+ pounds makita item, so the pc is really the only option at the moment :D
if you need any advice let me know, i will only be too pleased to help you

Whats the main difference then? im trying to work out how they can be better? (Not trying to put it down just wondering)

well , the pc is a corded machine for starters, which means it has alot more power, it also has adustable power settings and is just generally a more robust machine, the megs polisher just does not have the power, and it gets bogged down easily
read up on the meguirs forum, even they dont like the megs machine, i asked this question a while back, check the response
http://shop.meguiars.co.uk/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=861&highlight=car+automobile+polisher

the only good megs machine is the usa based megs g100, which is an expensive rebadged PC

So basicly its just adjustable speed? (and the motor is better) Ignoring stuff like its mains etc

well very basically yes, but the cordless just does not have ther power, if you want a cordless there are £30 ones that are basically the rebadged megs cordless's

Fired up my PC yesterday.
Rain stopped play just as I was applying the paint sealant :thumbd:
(Klasse AIO) really knackered it up. Ended up finishing off with two towels, one to dry and t'other to buff off.
I've still got a little bit of minor marring left but this is more to do with my product than the machine.
Thoughts on the machine:
Does what it says on the tin and is a sight less grief than hand polishing.
Vibration a bit too much on the hands - wouldn't like to be using one as a professional detailer.
Lugging around the 110v transformer gets real old real quick.
Useless for buffing off my Swissol Concorso, pad was loaded with product after maybe 1/3 of the car so I just used a microfibre to get the gunk off.
A lotta cash for something I probably won't use more than maybe 3 or four times a year, but has certainly made pre-wax treatments less of a chore.

well my recomendations would be megs #83 followed by megs #80, then topped of with NXT tech wax, you can finsih of with megs #16, i would remove the products with a quality microfibre anyway not the pc

I've just ordered all the stuff from the first links you listed (Sonus DAS polisher kit, transformer, etc.) - looking forward to getting the PC7424 now, your discount was very welcome too!

hehe, you wont be dissapointed, what polish are you ordering ?, if you need any advice just ask

scott, the pc kit with postage,+ extra pads etc, less discount will come to about £140 iirc

Pro Detailer
$247.95 shipped - £130.34. Plus the transformer etc. from Screwfix was £46.14 delivered, so £176.48 all together. Autopia were cool about marking the package appropriately to avoid any import duty.

I went for the polisher kit which includes lots of polishing heads, bonnets, etc., you can buy less than that if you wish, but the bundled kit seemed very good.

I already have lots of Meguiars and Swissol polishes and wax.
