When they called me they said they would have to take out the light to fit it?? :banned:
Thats why i was posting on here to find out how hard it was to DIY as did not think that was needed to change the bulbs.

I think they are use to people who don't have any ideas about cars so they pray on the weak. [:@]

There talking crap simple as that :cartman:

If they are the orange tinted ones then the orange fades/peels off over time and become more white than orange to the point where they will eventually fail an MOT.

As Allan says DIY, bulbs are only £3-£4 from Halfrauds.

:lol:Halfrauds = classic!

My Octavia had an advisory for incorrect colour rear indicators last week. When I took the bulbs out, near enough half of the orange paint had peeled off them, a pack of 2 cost me less than £2 from the local garage.

When you've changed the bulbs, don't just throw them away, clean the rest of the orange paint off, and you've got a couple of spare bulbs for your reversing and rear fog lights.

and people wonder why i am not a fan of dealers.
Give it enough time and one of the dealers on here will try and come along and defend this.

However i do wonder how much of the £38 is for parts.... ;)

I once had a VW dealer call be to say they needed to fit a new set of HT leads to my corrado VR6 as after changing the plugs and plugging the leads back in it was running on 5 cylinders, - one of the HT leads braking inside.
OK... you broke them? and i pay.. right..
Get this they would not back down saying the HT leads get brittle over time and it happens and was not their fault..
Cost.. about £180 for the parts, but they were really nice and said they would not charge labour for replacing them.. thanks alot you ****s.

I refused the work and picked up a new set of HT leads from the same factory (in VAG box) on route for about £30.
Went to fit them in the carpark of the dealers. - mm these old HT leads are not brittle..
hold on, this ones not even plugged in.. its simply sitting loosly in the plug recess. i look inside and hes bent it inside, where the fat fingered oaf of a moron working on the car has tried to push it onto the spark plug at an agle of about 30 degrees.
Took about 10 seconds for me to straighten out the metal guides with my fingers and the car was fine.

It ran ok for the next 2 years i had the car.

When i pointed out why the car was running on 5 cylinders to the service desk attendant and that it the car was in fact running ok i was greated with what i can only describe as a look of:
'here we go, some member of public who thinks be knows it all..' followed by a complete denial that anything could ever be done wrong by the highly skilled technicians of said dealer.

Sorry to jack the thread but keeping with the bulb theme..

Is the Leon supposed to have two reversing lights?

And finally how do I go about changing the pre-facelift front fog light bulbs?

Cheers!

SEAT in Swindon is utter pants.

Asked about having cruise control retrofitted and was told it was not at all possible to do.

Asked about the extra boot shelf and was told it didn't exist.

Was quoted £400 for a cambelt change.

Asked about the harness running from the head unit to the cd changer (as my car didn't come with one, needed it for the connects2 box) and was told that I would have to buy the entire loom for the whole dash unit, as a single harness as described didn't exist.

And when I was about to service the car myself I went in there to ask about the torque setting for the sump plug nut - I was first told to buy the haynes manual for the leon and had to explain that that doesn't actually exist yet. After much deliberation they came back and told me that their 'technical team' were not permitted to release information like that to me. I was, however, welcome to book my car in with them for a service of course.

Sorry for hijacking the thread with a slightly off-topic rant anyway buddy.

More on-topic, there's a fantastic guy for VAG's over in the industrial estate by The Dockle in Swindon. His garage isn't much to look at but he's the only place I've found locally that I actually trust with my motor.

:wtf: that is crazy, i take it your not going back there in a hurry.
Where was this garage? Should of taken names of the staff who were trying to take you for a ride and gone to their head office!

Nice one for spotting that and fixing it yourself!
