If you mean you're trying to remove the connector rather than the MAF sensor itself, then you're right - there's a plastic tab underneath. Put pressure on the tab away from the main body of the MAF sensor, and the connector will slide off. It does take a bit of persistence, though!

To disconnect the cable from the MAF sensor, you don't need any tools and there's no screws to undo. It just takes a bit of groping around with your fingers until you find the plastic tab underneath.
Edit: If you can see 5 pins, then it sounds like you've already taken the connector off. Is that right? If so, I'm not sure why you want to go any further, unless you're actually trying to replace the MAF. Bear in mind that the MAF sensor itself is very delicate and easily contaminated.
That's right. The plastic tab doesn't really move, it just bends slightly. Pull it towards you, and slide the connector towards you. I struggled first time as well!when you say away...does that mean towards you, away from the tube?
I'm dumb, where is the MAF?
the maf is the connector that sits on the left of the air filter box, its the plug that you see on the ribbed tube, to take it off hold back the small plastic piece in the middle of the plug, whilst pulling the plug away. Make sure you lift the plastic piece whilst pulling it at the same time. and ur pulling the plug towrds the wind screen. that should take the bi*ch off.
Sounds like the right thing. four female connectors are the four holes then?
Yes!
That's the right thing then, my God wonders never cease!
On a side note, you can tell it was a man who came up with the naming convention for connectors can't you?
