How do I bleed the master brake cylinder?

First off, I'd like to apologise for saying you can't bleed the master cylinder - turns out you can! My bad. Secondly, I just did the brakes on my own (Mk1) LCR, and I had the same problem as you, air in the MC. After bleeding everything, that sorted it right out and the brakes are now sound as a pound.

However as I said above, you ran the risk of damaging the seals and you may have done just that if bleeding all necessary nipples hasn't done the trick.

I can't be of any more help to you as I don't know the intricacies of the Mk2 braking system, so good luck and if you can't sort it out, take it to a garage!

Thanks for the replies. There aren't any nipples on the mk2 to bleed the brake master cylinder (not that i can see anyway).

I have just checked, and the leak is coming from around the hex screw underneath the m/c (not from the 2 bolts that connect it into the servo). I am guessing that this hex screw holds the plastic brake fluid refill container onto the master cylinder).

Gaining access to it will be a pain, but i am hoping that tightening it may solve the problem, or is this unlikely to stop the leak?

Looks like I will have to remove the m/c as i tried tightening the leaking hex screw underneath it to no avail. Does anyone know the size of the 2 hex bolts that hold the m/c onto the servo on a mk2?

I have a set of hex keys, but they aren't any good because the bolts require a hex socket to remove them?
