so power peaks just after 5, i was going of a remaped 2E, running 133bhp i think, i assumed the bands would be the same, except the remaped running higher hp obviously.

the remaped one was done by AMD considerd it for mine, but for the horsepower gain, and the fact that i dont do track days i think it would be a waste of time..

Not all Saxo's are driven by chavs, this is my VTS I had before I bought the Ibiza.

Amazing handling car, miss it actually.

As much as I think the Ibiza is a good little car, I'm certainly pleased with mine, its not a patch on a VTS.

Even as standard I would say they are quicker, mine would run 15.4's when it was almost new with no mods, in the picture above mine was running 160bhp @ 7800rpm, very nippy.

F1nn that's a really nice example. Wheels look like the Clio cup wheels. As I said before, the VTS's are defo the better handling cars are are a bit quicker as well, but just haven't got some of the nice features an Ibiza has. And definitely wouldn't want to crash in one either.

Nice example tho

There are some things that I prefer about the Ibiza, but I just dont rate them as drivers cars.

My std 2.0 16v just does not handle well at all. I've driven a mk3 cupra with h+r suspension, not impressed. My mate owns a mk3 cupra with Bilstein pss9 coilovers, rear spacers, neuspeed antiroll bars and strut braces and toyo 888 semi slicks, and even he admits the handling is not up to much.

As a motorway slogger they make decent cars, decent torque I s'pose but they have such a heavy flywheel/long gearshift action it takes the edge off for me, and I feel that the ABF lacks top end fizz. I actually owned a Mk2 golf 1.8 16v before and the engine in that felt much more responsive, if no quicker probably.

i would definatley agree that the flywheel and gear shifting isn't up to scratch, it would be handy to have a short shift gear box as standard in the cupra's, your vts looks good, but its when the wideboy bodykits go on them and neons etc, not to mension the sub, but all cars can be chav'd up, just some cars are more prone to it than others, and when im driving about the majority are novas, corsa's saxo's but i s'pose it doesn't mean there a bad car, not in the vts case anyway as it is a quick car.

i actually think that my mk2 1.4 handles pretty well despite the lack of feeling through the steering wheel

only thing i have done is put mk3 cupra alloys on it as well, never been happy with the feeling of the road through the wheel as my last ibiza was great for that

not driven a saxo so can't comment but i had a honda accord as my first car and that handled fantastic, ibiza is not as good but its not miles behind either imo

My rev limiter in the 16v kicks in with force as soon as you hit the redline, didnt mean to run in to the limiter just got a bit carried away in the first week i had it and was still adapting.

Never hit the limiter in the 8v as there was no real reason to be so high up the rev range, i do miss the useability of the 8v, its far superior lower down the rev range to the 16v, however when i get the 16v on the boil it places an unremoveable smile on my face!

I swear the guy who owned that only used that fixture at the back to secure his rodding pipes?

If the boot was flushed properly (asin not flat back!), boot lock removed, numberplate put somewhere better (cant think where)

Disagree on a tin can saxo being better then an ibiza! I find that mine handles well and so did my old one.

But saying one car handles better then the other can also be down to personal preference. I don't like how a standard 1.4 ibiza handles so I changed it to my preference and I now quite enjoy it apart from the crap tyres I have on, but I'd rather driver sensibly and not eat through expensive grippy tyres.

Hmmm, cant really agree with you there. I find that as my tyres are the only thing keeping me on the road, I prefer to have the best I can afford.

I'm sure there is a decent handling car in the ibiza somewhere, Its just its not on the set up that Seat launched it on.

I'm not slating the cars, I own one, but while I can appreciate its strengths, I'm not blind to its weaknesses.

many factors came into my decision to leave the boot catch on,and to smooth the boot completely(saw one and the ridges were shite and those joints under the rear lights crack like fook so i got them welded up and smoothed the lot.its in a sorry state though now .i understand(its been a fair few years now

hmmm, I'm not sure how much safer an Ibiza would be over a Saxo tbh, sure I realise that Saxo's are very lightweight, that definately contributes to the way they handle and accelerate. TBH, I would rather be in car that i had confidence in its handling to try and avoid the guy in the ibiza with crappy tyres understeering around the corner into my path!

Joke!

On the subject of chavs, to diverge for a second. Have you ever been unfortunate enough to fall into a Saxo or Nova related forum. The threads are so bloody cryptic as they are seemingly all written by dropouts and chavs. I am not saying that all owners are that way (heaven forbid) but a lot are (f1nn definately excluded)

Have you ever seen the ripples in the panels down the side of a saxo - terrible workmanship!
If they are unsafe then a few chavs die and my car is a little safer when parked on dark streets - Horrah! Long live the honest folk!
