I have just done a search and all i can find is tt short shifters lol. What i'm after knowing is, is there a shifter that is mounted on the inside of the car rather than the under side which would mean the gear sfick is higher and i can possition it a little bit further back.

I'm quiet call see and find the original possition of the gar stick to far forward and low down, i was thinking mk iv golf gti shifter maybe ?

Cheers Mark :D

I'm 6.5 but its a track car and i find the driving position really crap. The steering wheel is to far away and so is the gearstick when i have the seat positioned so the peddles are at the right reach. I kno how to fix the steering wheel problem but need to sort the gearstick out. Its not that i find it undrivable but would just like it more tailored to me

true.... if its track only, then needs to be comfortable....

speak with bill (AKA Badger 5/ibizacupra) on here, he has a track ibiza. Don't think he's extended his shifter, but I guess he could point you in the right direction

Ye i might drop him a mail, i'm not after extending the original stick i'm after a whole unit i can mount inside the car and not undernithe the car like the original seat one. I think the mk4 golf gear shifter is mounted inside the car and the cables run through the car which would be ideal as i culd then mount it where i want in the car.

The other option i considered was trying to mount original shifter inside but i dont know if its possible or not, i'll have to have a look when i get home

The mk4 shifter is the same as the ibiza and mounted under the car. Read my build thread with the link in my sig and see how ive mounted the linkage ontop of the tunnel.

cheers for the link, i found the pic but i havent seen the shifter out of the car so cant really work out how you have mounted it. Can you give me a little bit of a how to as to whats needed to do it.

Is it as simple as taking out fom under the car and bolting it in on the top or does the base need turning round or something?

Cheers Mark
