Damn, sure!

depends on climate
How much A/c weights?

Climate here sucks -20oC if we are lucky. While a/c assembly probably weighs 10kg approx
I used the one of the APR guides on a friends car to change the intercooler and also used the original pipework by cutting the metal end off.
Took around 2 hours to complete the job.

Hi. Sorry I have only just spotted this.
Yes I'm not far away from Loughborough.
I don't remember what size bolts I used, I believe I remember finding the correct size on the golf forums.
Do you still need help with it?

would really like this fmic upgrade on mine before an APR remap as its got stage 2 on now
how much would it cost for someone/garage to do the work for me + removing all the aircon etc on a K1
Fitted the intercooler. Took just under 2 hours to fit. The correct bolts are suppliex with the intercooler. Probably down to air temp. But feels like spooling up faster.
Now ready for stagd 2+
I was quoted it's a 4 hour job, which it isn't.
I'd budget paying £70 ish an hour, and be being charged 2 - 2 1/2 hours. Unless you know of local garages to you. It would also be useful being there whilst it's done.
did you guys use the oem hoses?
im about to buy one from darkside (£250) its another £100 for the hoses :/ i can cut the end off the oem hose and jubilee clip them on right ?
just a thought, can i not go TPS and get a cooler from them? surely it'll be same spec ?

Hi mate,
I used the original hoses, but cut the metal connectors that go into the intercooler.
I placed the metal end in a vice, and cut LENGTH ways. The connector is alluminium, so is very easy to cut, just dont go mad otherwise you will the hose.
I made four cuts then just prise the inner/outer parts off the hose.
Hope this helps.
Did you get a price from TPS ?
