was driving to the fish n chip shop earlier this evening...and thort the turbo sounded a lil bit more whistly than usual.

i carried on, and went i left, i put my foot down in 1st (enough to be under fairly heavy load and changed gear pretty quick), but as i put the clutch down, i heard a really strange noise...hard to describe, maybe a loud whistly followed by a pop, but am not 100% sure as the stereo was on low volume too.

I looked in the rear view mirror and saw a BIG cloud of black smoke. I continued to pull away, but in doing so, realised i had no power whatsoever in any gear!!

I turned the car off, and back on again, but still same problem!

What have i done? Is the turbo shagged? or has a boost pipe just popped off???

Oh...btw i can't hear the turbo whine or whistle at all now.

Engine: 1.9TDI PD130

the pop could have been an intercooler hose blowing off.. and the car is getting too much fuel and not enough air hence the black smoke.

get under the bonnet pulling at all intercooler and intake hoses after the turbo to see if any of these have blown off

hoses to check, from the turbo, along the side of the sump, check the intercooler pipes going into and coming out of the intercooler, then the plastic one that comes up behind the headlight and runs up along the side of the cambelt......

Think it will be one of them
