Had a K1 on demo yesterday

I have seen one other Candy K1 in 7 months of ownership, the owner lives 5 miles away..
Met him on this forum!

They are as rare as hen's teeth..

Mine is yours for the right price!

Wonder who that could be . I've not seen many to be honest, one same as mine, white with black wheels on the M62 and one other white K1 (Mikes above). That's in 9 months of ownership.

Compared to the RX 8, the K1 is rare indeed (or just unpopular!).

Candy white k1

I've had my k1 for 3 months now and i think i'm the only person that has one in Derby. All i see is FR'S. I've never seen a K1 in Derby.

I've seen a couple of white K1's in Leeds, could have been the same one. I think one owner might be a member of the same gym as me.

Saw a Grey Cupra just after I ordered mine (Teesside Park), have seen a few black ones locally to me in Leeds but could have been the same one. Seen the same red one a couple of times in Leeds and a yellow one from a distance somewhere in Wales.

Plus mine was in black. Quite interesting that apart from mine which was MY08 the others I've seen close up have been MY07.

In 20 months of looking out for Cupras that isn't many.

I have however seem loads more at SEAT dealers or the SEAT track day but they don't really count.

just out of interest what makes a k1 a k1?
is it just the aero kit?

I live near Crewe in Cheshire and it seems to be the epicentre (Leon city) because of all the people who work at Bentley and get a low-cost leaseplan.
There are 5 Cupras I recognise, 2 black, 2 White and a red one I see regularly...Fr's are everywhere !

Never seen this many anywhere else in the country and I travel a lot.

we got one mate,i work at bentley they are a steel :p

Under powered???

For a factory standard FWD drive car there isn't much out there more powerful.

When I last looked a year or so ago the Astra VXR was equal and the Mazda MPS more powerful but that was about your lot...

Thing is though mate, with all your modifcations on your MK1 Leon Cupra, a MK2 Leon Cupra in standard form is still gonna be more powerful.

To give an example, most stock Leon Cupra TFSi's that have been r/r tested make 250bhp as standard. Mine made 257bhp as standard with 242ft-lbs of torque. My old 1.8T AUQ Toledo made only 249bhp with 242ft-lbs with similar mods to your Leon.

If that makes the TFSi Cupras underpowered, one would have to assume you must also think your own car is underpowered?

Edit: Just realised yours is an oil burner which means its probably running similar power to a stock FR170PD TDI at about 195bhp. That is about 60bhp less than than an underpowered MK2 Leon Cupra

Hmmm...I tested an Astra VXR in the wet... - it was like someone had given me a free ticket to the A&E Dept ! :scary:

It torque steered all over the place, I had to drive like a nun to keep my undies clean...Typical Vauxhall, big clumsy engine, no chasis tuning and nasty Chav image.

The Cupra / FR can put it's power down urgently without drama, & thats worth a lot more than figures on paper, eh ? ;)

Did you know that the guy (ex Alfa) who designed the Leon also did the Lambo Gallardo ?

It shows, I think.
