M POWER engines

I got to say they are nice and compare the horsepower of a r32 to e46? 100bhp. but that comes as a cost! if the BMW e46 doesn't have the service book stamped at an early age with "performce upgrade" or similar warranty call back then you should think very carefully about getting it. The thing is they tend to let the buttom end go and BMW recalled thousands of E46's and replaced buttoms but a few slipped through. I know 3 owners of e46's and 2 had the engine blown :headhurt:

Just read that the gt2x as posted at the start of this thread only has oil feeds, no coolant (has a loop fitted instead)
I just read in the installation manual for the gtrs that it does have a coolant system, surely for the sake of another 100 quid it'd 10/10 be the choice for doing it right?

GT28RS is a bigger turbo with a lot more lagg unless you have internal work and mapp it to 400. Certain places will only map it to 300bhp on standard internals.

Here (Netherlands) we map till 350hp (flywheel) with the org. internals.
If you got a 225hp engine till 400hp with the OE internals.

:D there is one guy driving with a IHI with about 330 for nearly
a whole year with oe internals and one with a GT28RS on 360
for 2 few weeks now but 360 is asking for problems. When I
go GTRS I'll change my internals for sure. Ow we also take
480/490 nm's as top for the gearbox before it say's boooom

[edit]
we know that of the gearbox because al crazy Belgian with a
GT3071r (455hp and 519Nm) tested it about 3 times hahaha.
But it was his daily drive and that's to much for a ibi on the
street and now he bought a S3

jesus. are the internals stronger than they originally thought then

seems like it and with careful precise mapping.

Plus the Ibiza has the strongest out of the lot of the variants.

I remember when they first started chipping Ibiza's and tuning companys were weary to map past 200bhp and 15psi lol

I have a 35K mile on 340bhp motor which is fine to confirm it lasted that long.

its a case of they're getting braver pushing the units harder, as the customers cars at the end of the day are their feedback on what can or cannot be got away with. we are their crash test dummies.

some units do fail. not often thankfully.

when you stick rods in and the like you do so for peace of mind

asking over double the power output is eating into margins.

I'd seriously look to get a hard pipe TIP made up after its all been installed to get it all to fit back in the correct position.

You will struggle to get metal pipe in as it is a very very tight fit and need's flex in the hose to get it on past coolant pipe and gear selector cables. I thought about doing this til i saw the space i had.

Space is very tight in there even when fitting a tip on a ko3!!

Instead of moving the coolant bottle could you not use samco's to go round the bottle? or have an alloy elbow made for between the MAF and filter?

Matt do you have any new pics of the Engine bay?

I used a LCR samco tip when i first had the AM04 fitted, Didnt have to move the coolant bottle!!!! all ok?? only n75 pipes needed tweeking

I now have an Alu tip but had to have it made using Cast Mandrel Alu bends...... not cheap but done the job
