would aviod this one i reckon, just not got a good feeling about it. I reckon it has been crashed and the airbags have been deployed and so replaced with cupra interior??

yea the air vent boost gauge, quite a few people have done that, quite fiddly but worth it. i was lazy and just went for A pillar

i made the move from a clio 182 to a 2006 polo gti (built on the same platform as the cupra just not as nice looking and 30bhp less!)

in my opinion it was a really good move, had the polo remapped to 200bhp and i loved it, used to see off 182's and type r's regularly! only thing i missed about the clio was the looks, with the polo being a bit more standard run of the mill looking, but then this wont be the case with a cupra!

cupra tdi could be a good shout though, thats what i'm driving now, lovely to drive, still got a bit of poke in it and returns excellent mpg! [B)]

either way . . . . Do it!! :D

cool, think I've found 1.8T, I've owned 2 Tdi 1.9 Beezers previously and want to try 240bhp on a Petrol Turbo.

240 and you'll be seeing off crazy fast cars! my 200 polo sat with a couple of astra vxr's and focus st's until top end speeds, its crazy what the weight of the smaller cars does for you!! i can see 240 leaving lots for dead!

The red FR/Cupra you originally posted didn't get a complete interior swap... they missed out the handbrake cover lol :hide:

dude im making the jump from a clio 182 myself :)

i too have become tired of the clio's traits. yes it is a fantastic car and so so fun to drive. but the rattles, thin panels and racket that my simota and miltek make is a bit much. plus its 30mpg vs 50mpg+ of the seat.

im going for an ibiza cupra tdi. the difference in build quality is huge, as im sure you know. it wasnt a very hard decision to make for me.

ill miss the 'rawness' of the 182, but welcome the comfortable boost of the seat :) on track ive no doubt the clio would win but in reality when are we ever on a track lol. i dont know about you but sometimes chav's in saxo's would keep up because i was well off cam. i cant see that happening in the seat lol.

My Seat actually rattles more than the Clio did. I also managed high 30's mpg, so that wasn't a problem but the Seat has been fun so far! Never had any Saxo's bothering me...

Know this is a pretty old post now, but I went to visit this model posted at the beginning of the thread.

When I first saw the car I thought wow, what a car, I sat in it and was thinking I have to have this car.

Luckily I had my dad with me, who thought at £5995 this car was too good to be true, he had a good nose around the wheel arches and the front bonnet and discovered a pretty crappy attempt at a repair. The whole front end had been in a smash and the car had, had a full frontal repair. The interior must have been replaced as a result of this and thats why it doesn't have a FR standard interior.

The worst bit was when I had rang the company who said that there was nothing wrong with it, it was a perfect clean example! Lying tossers! All in all was a waste of one Saturday afternoon and a 100 mile round trip. The garage owners also lied to us when we got there, it wasn't until Dad said about the bodged repair that they had to admit that the car was a CAT D insurance write off!

So the moral of the story is, check your car history and don't buy a car on first sight!

I now drive a 2005 plate 1.9TDI Ibiza Cupra, and what a car!

I now own this car, and tbh it seems to run very well, and HPI clear on a number of sites when i checked. Seems fine to me ;)

*Edit - Are you referring to the 2004 Black Ibiza cupra, or the Red FR with the Cupra interior?*

Got me a little worried now :S

Many thanks

Anthony

I hope your right!:(

I think he was refering to the black one, as that was the one mentioned first in the original post.

The red one, was the cat D, that has been poorly repaired.

It was a FR, that still had the silver wing mirrors but had the cupra front bumper, seats, steering wheel and alloys...however the front bumper would restrict the FR's SMIC so would drive like turd.

Im sure yours is fine :D

Sorry, bit confusing...he was refering to the red FR as being dodgy in that it wasnt declared as CAT D untill they mentioned it, and has been replaced with cupra parts...and poorly repaired

your car..the Black one from the original post is not mentioned in this way..:D

yeh i hope no one bought that red thing, could well be something more seriously wrong with it other than just a front end smash, otherwise y had everything else been changed?? rear bumper, whole interior etc, im thinkin it could have rolled at some point

Thats what i thought...was the headlining changed to a black one as well? Could be that someone was scrapping a cupra and they used these parts to fix the FR...wouldn't touch with a barge pole if they wouldnt even be straight up about damage to it and that its a CAT D...

iirc the headlining was the same white as ours, still doesn't add up tho, the only reason an insurance company would coff up for a whole new set is if it was all damaged and going by the age of the car i would hazard a guess it would have been a while ago as a full setup would be thousands at a body shop/dealer complete with the crap repair on the front the single lamp lights. i wonder what happened to that car........

just goes to show that certain stealers have earned the tag name.
