Maybe I'm snobby, but I wouldn't buy a new car for 7K because it's probably gonna be crap. It's similar in price to a Kia/ Hyundai/ some other piece of junk, as RichieRich said, you get what you pay for.

Maybe you'll like your new car and have no problems with it, in which case for you it would've been a good buy (probability says there's bound to be a few around without any problems given the number produced!). However, for most car enthusiasts or people who actually research the cars they buy and the model's background, the last-gen Corsa is definitely a no-go zone.

How can so many people buy cars like the Corsa when there are much better cars on the market (not just the Ibiza) and I know for sure that I'd rather have any number of cars before someone could persuade me to buy a last-gen Corsa (I've driven the new one and the build quality is much improved).

Do people just look down the street and say "Oh look there's another ......, it must be good"?

Oh and be careful that the engine doesn't spontaneously set on fire due to water in the battery compartment as demonstrated on a recent Watchdog episode![:@]

Rant over....for now:whistle:

Happy motoring!

well with the crashes ive seen on here since ive joined they dont look that safe

:-o Really!?!

As far as I can remember the assessor who looked at what had happened to Davel's car was certain in had to be a fatality until he inspected the passenger shell and found it hadn't given at all despite the car tumbling and landing on it's roof - the B pillar didn't even deform!!

Compared to that, my mate was hit from behind in a (brand new) hired Fiesta in an accident yesterday and shunted off the road into a ditch (he was sat at the back of a stationary line of traffic) and had to be cut out of the car as it had deformed so much the doors wouldn't open!!

I know which car I'd rather be in out of an Ibiza, a Fiesta and a Corsa in a serious accident and its got a silver S on the front!

my mum crashed into the back of a corsa in the volvo at about 10mph and basically the whole backend of the corsa was caved in. Volvo only had slight bumper damage!

i work on loads of these corsa's and a few ibiza in my time in the accident repair trade and the corsa's are like cheese and cave in SSSOOO easy!!!! we also have these corsa's as out courtasy cars and the build quality is much poorer than most cars i work on

i dont like these threads were people mock people decissions ect but you deserve it ;) a corsa!!!!

if i had £7k i would buy a mk4 golf tdi or likewise much more reliable GREAT mpg great to drive and most importantly its a VAG!

the wrecks might look bad, but afaik everybody got out of them unhurt!

Davels & Triple D will agree with that i'm sure!

thats down to the exstensive research & developement that VAG have put into their cars over the years!
add that to the build quality of VAG cars and you got a winning combination in my book!

You are kidding me right? i rear ended a van on a motorway in the outside lane, the van was doing 30mph slower than myself atleast. I think i was doing about 80mph at the point of impact, hit it dead on straight and both airbags went off, and the car went across all 3 lanes and ended up down the ditch. I walked away with a sore nose where the airbag went off, no other injuries at all.

Now if you dont call that safe then i dont know what is.

Davels car stood up extreamly well in his case, as he managed to walk away from it after it was rolled.

IMHO im glad i had the ibiza when i crashed, as i dont know if another car would have stood up aswell in the same situation.........

My mate has a similiar powered sound system as me in his corsa. His sound system can be heard not only by his occupants but everyone in the surronding half mile. In my car my sound system is just as loud, only difference is that anyone at the side of the road wouldnt know that inside my car the music is blazing and thumping our ears like a nightclub. I put this down to the ibizas superior build quality. Well love it like that, can have my music loud without facing the wrath of people enjoying a quite friday/saturday/sunday evening. No ASBO's for me :D
