Gearbox noise/whine

I don't think seat give a specific gear oil change interval, it's a lifetime oil meaning it never needs to be changed but I personally think it's better to change every 40k. For the sake of about £30 you might aswel

My point exactly. We did tests on lifetime oil on the new automatic mini but after 60k it was not doing as good a job as it should be.

Speedfreak mentioned a recall, and different oil. The garage mentioned this to me in passing, some time ago, but didn't press it. Has anyone anything further on this?

Put mine in Friday, gearchange is noticeably slicker already after only 120 miles, but any change to the whine will take a while. I'll see if there's any difference @ about 600-700 miles. If not then chances are it won't improve.

Put mine in today but have not yet drove the car, got a 30mile drive home soon so will see how it goes and you all know.

Good news from me. First drive with the new oil and the noise is 90% away :) hardly noticeable at all now, still there a little but not nearly as loud or as frequent.
