G12 coolant?

My changing of the coolant engine temp sensor didn't quite go to plan & as a result I lost all my coolant as it really came flying out!
I replaced the coolant with ready mixed coolant from halfords but have just checked the owners manual & it says to only use Seat G12 coolant. So, my question to anyone that
Knows is, is it necessary to only use G12 or can I get away with the Halfords stuff?
Also, I slightly overfilled the coolant reservoir, is there an easy way to drain out a little bit of coolant?
Thanks in advance!!

Hi
undo the plastic guard tray under your engine and on the bottom of your radiator (passenger side) you will see a small tap ( i cut about 12 inches of a hose pipe and squeeze it over the ridges on the tap and drain it into something like a bucket or a jug)and i do believe you need g12+

It's the same pinky red colour that was previously in it. I looked on the halfords website & someone from the halfords web team had posted to say it was g12 compliant?
Thanks for getting back to me guys, would u flush out the system anyway to not take any chances bearing in mind I wasn't topping up the system, I was actually filling an empty coolant tank to full, even though the halfords web guy says it is g12 compliant?

I'm just going to buy the G12+ coolant & flush my system out so as to not take any chances. Can anyone confirm for me that all I have to buy for the coolant system is G12+ and nothing else?

Ah, you use the halfords stuff too, I notice it says on the bottle you need to change the coolant every 2 years. Hmmm maybe I'll just stick with the halfords stuff then.
