since new for first 5500 computer says an average of 33mpg

reccon i get 260 to a tank of fuel if pushed 170ish!

Trip computer #2 resets after every 1000 miles - so you're only seeing the average for maximum the last 1000 miles, not from new. It's in the manual - as soon as any of the counters reaching it's maximum ie. hours driven, miles covered the unit resets all measurements and starts again.

Also - the computer is in my experience very inaccurate. On a 90 ish mile round trip for work every day the computer on my TDI FR used to say 64mpg - I worked it out as being closer to 58mpg

My computer is accurate to within 1.5mpg but then my speedo also reeds a very accurate 37mph/1000rpm too

I was disappointed actually as both my Mk3 Golfs were always deadly accurate to within 0.1mpg

20-30 mpg round the 'hood
35-37 on the m/way
250 miles to full tank (according to trip comp)

only done 800 miles though so far, so will probs go higher (please go higher please.......)

it wont...have fun having no money!

Looks good on the drive though
