fr 170 superchips remap update

Im not worried about a remap on a Diesel, they are much stronger than petrol engines, and my last car was modded to hell with 100bhp more than standard with only boost pipes blowing off, not exactly expensive repairs!
Also why do you guys refer to the Diesel Particle Filter as a DRF?

I knew it was DPF  I looked back and someone had put DRF!
Anyways good point about deisels being a much stronger engine than a petrol ;)

Near Reevo :)
Speaking to other re-mappers..... They are of the opinion that actually for the 170 its quite highly tuned anyway, its unlikely they are going to get much more out of it.

Certainly not figures quoted anywhere near as high as others have stated, and this is due to designs in general of the exhaust outlet design , heat issues, injectors and many other smaller issues which all make one big problem.

Strangely the DPF is one thing they don't see as a major issue and haven't had a single problem with any of their "test" cars.

From my point of view it is completely pointless tuning it any further anyway, the bloody thing hasn't got the rev range as it hits the red to quick already in 1st and 2nd. More power would make it virtually useless at the lights with out regearing.
Roll on the next gen with common rail. As for the DPF, every new diesel in the vw range are now fitted with dpf from what I have read and no doubt seat will be following very soon to include the 140 etc.

The newer engines look to be less and less tunable for the future as well.

I dont understand why people dont just go and get the cupra for the extra power, cause your not going to get a significant difference in economy once you have tuned it. (remember once youve tuned it you will be even LESS likely to drive sedately....SO WHATS THE POINT)

It was i who caused the confusion..., mainly because in the Netherlands it is called DRF (Diesel Roet Filter)

 DPF DRF We all know what we mean
Cant wait to get mine and join the debate proper :D
When I had the S3 done I did lose some economy on a hairy grive it would go down to an average of 18.2 :headhurt: But even when driving like a grandad which I did do often  the remap still made it more pleasurable to drive so I'm def considering it still when she turns up and I'm used to the drive.

mines still playing up eventhough they have gone for a softer map at 199bhp and 402nm of torque the dpf lights come on now and wont go off soooo pi**ed of with it now ive had enough half tempted to just f**k it off and get something easier to play with!!!!!!!

Out of curiosity did you have your ECU parameters updated by Seat BEFORE you had the remap [mine was a early build. VW marque appear to have set their working limits too tight compared with BMW, MBenz etc. which have had these DPF system longer with little problems in comparision], cos I did and I have not had a problem since SS did the work although I was warned of possible problems DPF light. As to mpg this has slightly improved .

the 170 IMO has more it just takes a competent company to get a map to suit it.there's no danger VAG would release a car thats engine is on its max potenial.

I think your missing the point I'm trying to make; Seat HAVE changed the engine parameters of the FR Tdi within the last 6-8wks that may be affecting cars with the earlier engine parameters that could affect the SS re map - the VAG lumps are very robust - that has never been questioned.

i checked with seat to see if there was an update for my vehicle and they said there wasnt
Thats what my stealer said but after 3 trips with the same fault, low mpg they admited that there was a ECU flash update believe RO4282?? - which is covered on another thread in seatcupra.net so got there eventually!!.
It would appear there is VERY poor communication within SEAT to dealers because this is NOT the first time that this as happened - the dealers usally find out about whats happening either from this forum or x talk with other dealers at their monthly? meetings [a case in point was the alarm saga that affected a lot of early build cars also which was covered again by this forum first!! So don't give up. .............................

Was that a typo 'Stealer'? It shouldn't be sometimes with the dealer's
Not suprising my garage had heard of this site when I mentioned it. Came back pretty sharpish changing his mind now I think about it when he quoted me £113 for the inner door sills and I said I'd seen them on here RRP of £85 :headhurt:
This is a great site damn glad I found it :D

Keyless look!?

Ok I'm thinking this might work. On my S3 I brought a set of chrome door handle covers, there were 4 of them and mine was a 2 door so I put one of the full covers over the drivers handle hiding the lock making it look keyless. The Seat dealer in spain does Chrome 'Covers' the same. If you brought two sets (I know maybe expensive) could you flip one of them over to cover the passenger side and fit the full one on the drivers covering the lock? It would still be there for an emergency if you needed it but otherwise your Leon would look keyless :D
Any thoughts?

The chrome finished exterior door handle covers provide a colour contrast with the paintwork from the rest of the car.

so its basically stay away from superchips remaps until dealer flashes wont upset their maps, cant vag-com pick up on any new updates, another tuner mentioned this problem to me but it was reg their bluefin devices.

Glad you have got your car sorted . Superchips / Bluefin have always been a bit of a poor relation compared to the likes of REVO when remapping VAG cars. Personally speaking, I wouldn't touch them. Lot's of problems reported on Golf Ed 30's remapping the 2.0 TFSI 230 bhp unit, but they do reckon it takes it to 300bhp.
