Hello,

does anyone knows what part number of wireless charger mat with vent holes in it? It’s from facelifted version. Want to replace existing one with 3P0035502 which has 15W and fan (if not mistaken it should be play and plug).

and maybe also somebody knows which part number new design door sills?

Thanks!

original is only 5W charger so its just making phone hot while barely charges it….did more research and seems VAG changed connector type for newer model so 3P0035502 doesn’t work in pre-facelift model. Old has black connector and newer model brown. Didference not only color of connector but wiring. Newer one connecta to entertaiment system getaway (More info in MK8 golf forum)

So only alternatives to original is these ones:
1. Inbay (Germany)
2. Link to Aliexpress

Both are certified with Qi standard:
1. https://jpsapi.wirelesspowerconsortium.com/products/qi/10698
2. https://jpsapi.wirelesspowerconsortium.com/products/qi/20590

Still need cover part number for aliexpress one. Inbay will fit under original cover. Also Aliexpress is newer QI version compared to Inbay.

and some more info….
Seems there is OEM charger with fan which fits black connector: 6VA035502

More info in vw Vortex

but the issue that all the chargers are QI standard and it doesn’t matter if it states 15W charge. Iphone will accept only 7,5W on Qi, not sure about Android phones.

Got both OEM and Aliexpress one. Still missing mat with holes. But from first test I could say that OEM has much stronger airflow and louder fan. Aliexpress barely feels air moving and had some difficult times to properly place phone on it to make it charge (will test one more time wirh matt).

Also for OEM you will need to cut plastic beam as it geta in the way where fan located (but its small issue as it can be cutted away).

Both chargers charges iphone 7,5-8,5W (limit of phone).

Who wants full 15W, you need to go completely crazy. Throw everything and put any qi2 charger and modify 6 pin connector to power charger. More info here

Best choice would be ESR magsafe car charger with cryoboost cooling.

Will update more when I get mat.

Does the charger cover fit? Is 5FB863330B 4PK right for the vented charger?

So added 6VA035502 and 5FB863330B 4PK mat. Here some faq.
1. Q: How does the cover fit?
A: The cover fits well with one small modification. You have two options to make it work:
• Option 1: Cut the extra holder from the cover.
• Option 2: Drill a hole in the plastic so the holder can fit.

I chose to cut the holder. However, after fitting, there’s a small gap that isn’t very noticeable from a distance but still bothers me because I know it’s there.

2. Q: What needs to be done for the charger to fit?
A: You’ll need to remove some plastic to make room for the charger. I found that using a heated knife worked perfectly for this task.

3. Q: Is there anything else I should do before assembling everything?
A: Yes, before fitting everything together, make sure to cover the antenna connector (it’s no longer needed) with tape. This will prevent it from making noise when moving around.

I didn’t had a chance to try out wireless charger yet for longer period of time but first imoressions:
• Performance: It charges my phone faster and recognizes it more quickly than my previous charger.
• Noise: There is some fan noise when it’s in use, but it’s not audible when you’re on the move.
• Compatibility: My iPhone 12 Pro Max fits perfectly, but wider phones might have some issues fitting

Will update later after more usage

First long test. ~55 mins of driving iphone 12 Pro Max with leather case from 21% charged to 52% and front was little bit warn and at back no heat at all. Compared to old one I would be around ~30% and phone would be very hot…

So now need to think how to fix gap after i removed one of the holders. Double side tape doesn’t work :(

Want to do this with my 21 plate leon, looks to be the exact same cubby hole and charger.
How do you remove it all in the first place?

For rubber mat just lift it up. I pushed to side that rised border in middle of mat and squezzed finger to lift it. As it’s rubber you won’t brake it.

For charger i used some cleaning cloth and plastic card to squeze card under corner and lift it. Here you need to be carefull not
to scratch plastics around cubby hole.

will put some pictures tomorrow.

Sorry for delay, here some photos. For rubber mat push and lift where red circles. For charging pad just put some cloth (to prevent scratches) and use plastic card to lift corner.

To unplug connector push plastic holder in that square hole where yellow circle marked.

So far all good, phone charging with no issues and no heat warninga (carplay with waze and spotify is always on).

Plug-and-play, apart from one plastic beam modification (needs to be cut as it interferes with the fan housing on charger pad). The antenna’s purple connector should be left disconnected since the new charger doesn’t include the phone box feature (which enhances mobile reception). Didn’t noticed any difderence on reception compared to when it was connected.

There is no need to disconnect the battery; simply leave the ignition off and open the driver’s door to ensure the infotainment system is completely powered down.

And no coding needed. Fan kicks in when phone placed on charger.

Looking at the 10w inbay option as its about 80 euros/pounds and looks to be a like for like replacement that will be cheaper than the OEM option.

For inbay you can leave existing rubber mat. Inbay don’t have fan so no need new mat with venting holes.

I took my oem charger from 2024 skoda scala l&k which was totaled in scrapyard :) paid 100 EUR

Does the charge pad connect to the phone any easier? The standard factory one in my Leon constantly disconnects from the phone especially if the phone moves.

Yes with new oem it detects phone much faster and new mat is narower. My iphone 12 pro max almost touches raised sides so phone not moving around. Didn’t had any issues when it stops charging even on full cupra mode :)
