Flashing Oil light blown pipe!!!

Any help or advice please...

Ok about a month ago my oil light came on solid red not flashing red. So checked the oil level this was fine but there was a fair bit of oil between the engine and radiator, got the car home and got out the tools.... when I removed the plastic engine cover I found that the oil breather pipe from/to the rocker had become deformed melted or perished, it had been completely blown open for the horses to just run straight out of my engine.

I have since then repaired this pipe to a very good standard, but was unable to find the cause of the oil between the engine and radiator. There is a strange mass of plastic pipes by the oil dip stick that made it hard to diagnose. Since then the oil light went out and the ECU light came on I left this as I thought it had just stamped a fault code 6 or 7 starts later the ECU light goes out thanks god ;) and for the last month or so this had all been forgotten.....

Until I was on my way home with the misses all suited n booted from a family do (2 hour drive) driving steadily until PPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP..... on the approach to a roundabout changed down gears as you do I went round and straight on in 2nd gear, coming off the roundabout planted my right foot again 2nd gear 4k rpm :-o OIL Light red flashing and warning beep whoops:wtf: soPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP... GUTTED...

Called RAC sat for nearly 3 hours. Bloke arrives (nice guy, has this lump in his A3 so knew what he was on with) Finds that oil leak between the engine and radiator, another blown pipe... from the oil filter housing connected to a slightly bigger pipe going up to the DV (standard) Makes a temp fix tells me not to take on MG  Take it easy he said.

Now my misses has gone to work in the car this morning and rings me, oil light is back on :wtf: does anyone know about this or had this with there 1.8T 20v.

Thanks in advance ;)

Ok the car is back. RAC guy was a moron just dropped the car n went. It sounds like the top of the engine is dry of oil tapping like mad.... Any help peeps, gonna get my head in the engine bay in the morning to have a look if there as any damage.

Has anyone got any ideas???

Just to recap:
*Oil breather to rocker cover Blown and repaired.
*Oil breather from oil filter housing up to pipe that connects to Dump Valve Blown and repaired. Thinking about it this pipe could actually be an oil pipe... Anyone know where i can get an engine diagram from so i can order these pipes.

Please & Thank you!!!

Ok i have replaced both pipes/hoses as above... now the car is ticking almost like the tappets from an old ford or something. The noise is coming from around the top of the engine NOT the carbon filter, oil level is good.... Do i risk taking it up the road or could the top of the engine be getting starved of oil????

empty of oil?
oil pickup pipe in sump can block which will starve the top end of oil first.

extended variable servicing is a common cause.

so what did you fix? top it up with oil?
