Fitting new clocks / speedo / instrument cluster

Hi I wanted to crack on and fit my new cupra speedo to my leon tfsi sport but I'm just a little worried are there and precautions I should take I'm not going to mess my ecu up? I know I will have to get the mileage sorted but I'm assuming I can do that once it's fitted to the car, my leon is a 55 plate and the new dials are from a 07 plate cupra.

I've heard that it's impossible to fit facelift dials to a pre facelift leon too but I'm told what I'm doing is possible

Should work ok, prefacelift clocks are interchangeable. You'll need someone with access to VCDS and VAG Commander to help you as it will require immobiliser transfer, coding and mileage correction.

Depends really, I paid £120 for my Highline Clocks supplied from a breakers and fitted by EddieNL. '@udi A3' on here also does them.

Some clocks are easier than others as I think certain years have to be physically opened to do the transfer.

I dont use snide vag commander either, i use a dedicated milage and immo manipulation software :D

You are further away than id usually like to travel but i do have some other jobs halfway between us, best thing is drop your details to me in a pm, including as much info on the job needing doing, your cars vin number, doner cars vin number if you know it, and a mobile number, then when im local or heading south ill try to meet up with you.

Price wise, im sure it wont be too much!

I have been looking for and toying with a set of highline clocks to replace mine (with the small mfd), but can't really justify the 130ish needed to get a used set from a breakers, then extra to have it coded.

You can pick them up for less than that just takes patience. I paid £60+VAT for mine and then £40 cash for the fitting/ coding. Really nice upgrade IMO well worth it if you have the spare monies. Makes sense especially if you've got Nav retro-fitted too as means the instructions come up on the MFD.

I did see one go on eBay for £10. Was gutted that I missed it! I will keep my eyes peeled.

Murph81, not sure if aimed at me, but I guess swapping the cupra labels over to FR would be a royal pain in the rear?

Would 2010 dials fit a 2006 leon?

It hasn't been tried as the connector is different and they changed a lot of the electrics on the newer cars with white clocks. You'd need to get someone very knowledgeable involved to help with that. Closest I've seen are white display scirocco clocks going into a mk5 golf r32 but took a fair bit of modification.

If you want to keep it easy stick to the pre-facelift red screen clocks!

Thanks, it was just a cheap set on eBay that gave me the idea. Fl clocks for a TSI fr for £50, pre Fl are £115

The right ones might be double the cost of the wrong ones but the wrong ones might cost 10 times more than compatible ones to programme.

Don't worry, I have been suitably put of the idea! If it was straightforward I would be interested, but not if it is a royal pain in the rear to sort!
