Guys

I need new tyres in the next week or so. I live in Milton Keynes area.

I have read that the FK452's are a good tyre to buy and I need to change my P6000's, which in my opinion have been completely pony, for new tyres.

Any suggestions on where to get them? Camskill seem overpriced to me, without fitting (at probably another £45-£50 independently) and Blackcircles, with whom I get 10% discount, do not have any in stock.

Help!

James.

Blackcircles don't have any in stock? Surely it wont take them long to get them in stock? I had to wait 4 days before they got any when I ordered......I think you will struggle to beat their fitted prices.

Emailed Blackcircles and received the below response:

Dear Sir

Thank you for your query.

I am afraid that I am currently unable to locate any stock of your required tyre and am therefore unable to offer a price at present – please accept my apologies for this.

Due to our extensive stock range, we are however in a position to offer you alternatives for your specification and I would be happy to run you through what competitively priced options we have available.

Please let me know if I can be of any further help.

I need to find a 'local place' in Milton Keynes then that does fitting for that price, as if they don't supply the tyres themselves, most places aren't interested.

I found blackcircles.com and valuetyres.co.uk the cheapest for fully fitted price.

I'm getting 4 Hankook Ventus V12 Evo K110's fitted this afternoon via blackcircles. Wanted Falken 452's but they where on on the listing so I went for the Hankooks as they seem to be getting above average reviews...

Its only some of the chain places I've found unhelpful, most local places will be happy too, and even some of the chains, not like it used to be, call round a few and see how you get on :)

iv had both the falkens and the hankooks and i would say that the hankooks were better in the wet than the falkens but not by much but also i found that they werent as hard wearing as the falkens my pair on the front lasted 5-6k, and again camskill is where i got mine from and got a local place to fit them :D

The plot thickens...

... a local centre in Milton Keynes has offered me FK452's, including fitting and tracking for £350 all in. As the next Tuesday's at Seat Warranty have replaced both (I have to pay for one!!!) of my ball joints or track rod ends due to faulty part, I will need the tracking done.

The downside? They don't know when the next delivery stock will be.

They have offered me Kumho KU31's at £320 all in, instead... anyone have any experience of these?

Hello mate

Yep, £295 all in, including delivery for 452's from Camskill.

That's all well and good though, but finding somewhere in Milton Keynes that will then fit them and do the tracking for £50 is seriously limited when you haven't bought the tyre from them, otherwise I'd do it.

I won't buy F1's, as I suspect around MK, the Leon would eat them (my Punto GT certainly did. My A032r's lasted longer than the F1's on that car!). My P6000's on the Leon have lasted over 13k miles.

That's good to know... I've only driven back from the fitting station so far but initial impression are that the road nose is quite low.

...OP - I can give feedback in a few days if you want?

I had KU31's on my 3.0i Z4 and they were prefectly fine, had to be a little more ginger in the wet than the previous F1 runflats but otherwise had no issue with them, bags of grip :)

I just replaced my tyres a week ago and was going to go get the 452's. everywhere I phoned said they have been discontinued. They were taken off black circles during the week of my hunting for new tyres!

They have been replaced with the ZE 912's.

I got a set of 4 fitted all in for £270 £68 quid a corner.

They seem like a good tyre for the money from my week of using them, but I havent done much driving on them yet.

If you get tyres from black circles, it will be cheaper to buy the tyres from them and find an independant company to fit them for you. Will save between £40-£80 I calculated.

I recently bought 2x FK452's for under £130 delivered off a tyre retailer on Ebay. Got them fitted for a tenner at a local tyre fitter......

In which case, it sounds like what people have on the shelf is all that is available. The companies I spoke to couldnt order them, saying they were listed as obsolete.

Hmm so:

a. Need to order from Camskill and find a local tyre fitter to fit them and track them for £50
b. Buy KU31's from this local place for £320, inc. fitting and tracking
c. Buy ZE912's from this local place for between £320 and £350

So, my questions:

a. Does anyone know of somewhere cheap in Milton Keynes to fit and track tyres bought online?
if not
b. KU31's or ZE912's?

I want a tyre as long lasting and good performance wise as the 452's, if I can't have them.

912's have been replaced with 452's. I was led to believe they are better?? Also, HAGGLE!!!! Originally the garage I went to wanted £82 per tyre and I paid £68. Tell them you are travelling to Norwich at the weekend and can get them for £68 from City tyre and exhausts. They don't need to know you arent travelling here!
