I`ve just got off the phone to the chap thats going to be spraying a few bits for me. Im obviously going to be buying the black bumpstrips to be sprayed up but he tells me that i shouldnt rub them down as they will furr up? I dont really want them sprayed with the textured effect left on as it will look pretty poop, So whats the crack there then? From what i have read most people have had them rubbed down smooth and then painted?

Ill also be getting my wheels redone in anthracite but i was wondering if you people with anthracite wheels actully used a certain paint code or just asked for anthracite? Its all getting done hush hush at his work so needs to be right first time and obviously for convinance.

Any comments would be great :)

for the bump strips use plastic primer first then use high build primer to get rid off the texture after 2-3 coats of high build the texture fads then use a fine sand paper to sand it down slighty till smooth then use you top coat colour. job done

i sanded mine down and i understand what he means by them going furry but if you use finer and finer grade paper you will get them smooth ;)

Ohh smooth ones would be spot on, The bloke actully said the dealship would proberly do smooth ones.

Would it be the same process for rubbing the LCR splitter down and getting that painted? Not sure how long its going to last now im lowerd but will look good while it lasts, its not going to be colour coded before any says that will look poop ;)

Top man, Nah its going to be gloss black as i reckon that would stand out pretty well against the red.

The black bumpstrips which are better for colour coding are defo textured because i ordered some thinking they would be smooth but not the case.

Did you smooth yours down then?

Undcided on wheel colour now after looking at a few x power grey MG`s. Thinking it might look a little to light... Have to get a colour chart me thinks.

I started to smooth them down but lost the feeling in my right arm so they've been sitting in my garage since. I will eventually get them done, when i can be ar*ed.
