Hi all!

Right, I've had this irritating rattle/creaking noise coming from either behind the dashboard or in the engine bay and I'm genuinely pulling my hair out! I require some assistance from you lovely folk.. It's not always present but it does tend to be there on acceleration (whether harshly or normal) and it does display a few characteristics;

- it's always when the RPM is between 1500-1800
- it's usually when the engine is under strain ie. going up a slight hill

I've tried popping the bonnet and getting my friend to rev it slowly up the ranges but the damn car is making a liar out of me. The engine block tends to vibrate a lot even when idling and I'm convinced it's something in the engine bay vibrating against something else when the engine's under load but the above test surely debunks that? Could it be something transmission or suspension wise?

Any help would be greatly appreciated guys and girls. I'm baffled. :wtf:

If it's vibrating a lot it could need a new gearbox mount. Mine did the same and RichFR recommend to change it and it certainly did need changing. Reduced vibrations by a huge amount.

I'd also check the lower engine mount this takes the most abuse dealing with a revving engine.
