Emergency assist / front assist errors

Hi, Just posting this in case it helps anyone else.

My Formentor started randomly popping up alerts with an annoying bong announcing "Emergency assist temporarily not available" followed seconds later by "Front assist temporarily not available"

Still under warantee so a visit to the dealer and diagnosed as a front camera issue, 3 cameras later and with having a specialist re calibrate the camera no change.

Re visit to the dealer and the tech noticed that when he nudged the steering wheel while stationary the errors flagged up. Investigation lead to the discovery of a faulty control unit in the steering wheel. They re-loaded all the software, and sent a technical request to Cupra because they can't order a new control unit without ordering a whole new steering wheel, out of stock and on back order.

Since then no faults (touch wood) so hopefully got to the bottom of a very annoying problem that was compkletely spoiling my enjoyment of the car. The dealer said they have never come across it before, but just posting in case anyone else has the same issue.

A timely post, I have a VZ3 Formentor 21 plate just developed the same fault, been driving me nuts too! Which software did the dealer reload? Any info gratefully received. Cheers Dave

Hi Dave, I don't know what they re-loaded because they said they thought at first it might just be software, so they re-loaded it but still showing a fault. I didn't ask because I assumed it would still be bonging away at me. I'm waiting to hear if entire new wheel or just control module will be changed, but so far NIL ERRORS flagged. This weekend been to Snowdonia in Wales, 85 miles each way plus a bit of pottering about round the beautiful town of Betws-y-Coed, so close enough to 200 miles for me with fingers crossed and no annoying bongs. What a pleasure this car is to drive on fast A roads, although the Welsh traffic Taliban and the wife both encouraged me to keep the speed down.
