Steve at BBT's who fitted it said he couldn't understand why people went for the quick shift, but not then for the STS shift as well

well i havnt tried the side to side reducer BUT i wouldnt wont mine reduced from side to side because i think it would make it harder to shift down into the CORRECT gear... last thing u want to do is downshift into the wrong gear at speed!!!!

also i dont think its "loose" side to side and therfore doesnt need reducing, but each to their own! :)

I wasn't having a pop mate :) . I would have just always wondered what it was like without the STS shift if I'd not had it fitted. It's removable if you don't want it so chose to go that route and I'm happy enough with it so far

I reckon there's still enough movement sideways to avoid smacking it into the wrong gear when downshifting unless your really hammering it in a stupid manner in which case your deserve what you get

Cheers for the heads up, i know everyone says the raod use one is just right but i did wonder how bad the comp one was, but seeing as ive never felt the difference i wasnt sure what to expect with either.

Now wheres my credit card hiding!

If haveing a more weighty gear knob improves the throw, maybe putting a fishing weight under the gator on a stock knob maybe worth ago if pips dont wnat to folf out £50 for a new knob

Had mine fitted today by BBT's

Felt pretty good on the way home although I was pretty careful with it to get used to change in shift

Side to side shift doesn't appear to have made it too extreme so that's :coolthumb

Dog bone mount seems good, bit more vibration when fans kick in but not too bad imo

I have had my Short Shift a while now it's a great little mod.

Shame about the price of it

Funny enough I got my Dog bone mount arriving tomorrow thanks to Grant.

Did you use the torque specs that EIP recommend when fitting there mount Darth Tater?

Mr R

I had BBT's fit mine to be honest ;) . If Haynes did a fuggin manual for the Leon I'd have a bash at a lot more but as they don't I tend to leave fitting stuff to the pro's for fear of breaking stuff

On the subject of the torque settings, Shaun who runs BBT's said they fitted one to an A3 recently and that seemed really harsh which worried me but touch wood, mine seems great so far. Just a bit more vibration when the fans cut in than previously. Hardly any differnce at normal idle. I didn't ask but assume the settings were as specified. From what I've read on SCN it is important that settings are correct though

Ever flown a helicopter?

If so it's like that, not so much feel the input and think it and that's about enough movement.

OK so I exagerate but they rate the street at 30% reduction IIRC and the comp at 50% so the competition is nealy twice as short as the street.....you don't so much move your arm as just flex your wrist to move between gears :D

:D I got one too, but only on a lowly cupra, you guys all seem to have LCR's. :D

I'm not to worried about the price becuase i've seen these sell for £100 easy - reason being that it takes SOOOOOO long to get them in from the states that it'd be quicker to buy one off someone in UK. So when I sell my car, shortshift goes to the highest bidder! ;)

Yeah tell me about it, I've been looking at one, but £180!! eeek!!

Think I'll wait for my P87 tax return and £400 worth of expenses due this month

EIP one from Westec i believe - about £80, not including the sts reducer which IMO isnt needed anyway.

2 versions - sports and competition - the one with the BIGGER reduction (i think its the competition one) is too notchy - the other one is less of a reduction and fine for my use :)

Well I've order one.. Bit the bullet and went for it... At the end of the day I'll enjoy it on my Leon and if I manage to get to the R32 Mk4 (long way a way) it'll get moved and re-fitted to the R32

Got mine on and it feels great makes the car more fun..... :)

I also have a dog bone that like Rudd said some how makes the car feel more connected to the road under accelaration.... it feels great!

Thanks for the advice Steve.
