I'd be surprised if thats where the oil is coming from! The Exhaust Gas Recirculation valve just opens and closes to allow exhaust gases into the inlet manifold. This is done to keep the green party happy! as far as i know it doesnt have an oil supply. considering they have a pointless task, they are very expensive. over £100 but easy to work on yourself. Loads of info on these available.

mine does the same! has done since i had it! just one of those things. however it got alot worse when my turbo was burning oil! i suppose engine wear can cause the engine to use oil. how many miles your done?

Cars done 28k. It doesn't use much oil, less than a litre a year. I've read they can get clogged up with carbon sludge. Wonder if that's what's leaking out. Ideally I'd get a delete kit but then that brings up a light on the dash, without a map.

As long as it's not a fire risk I'll live with it for now lol

Yes the oil will be entering the air intake system via the breather on the top of the head. This oil mixes with carbon coming through the EGR causing the sludge. Some people fit oil catch tanks between the breather and intake.
