I tested my 184 DSG a few weeks ago and compared standard to DTUK CRDT3 and TDI Tuning box. Both boxes were the twin channel type.
Standard: 192.4bhp @ 4056rpm and 285.7lbft (387.4Nm) @ 2874rpm
DTUK: 216.6bhp @ 3677rpm and 340.4lbft (461.5Nm) @ 2127rpm. The torque consistently dropped off after peaking
TDI Tuning: 223.5bhp @ 3700rpm and 335.1lbft (454.3Nm) @ 3378rpm. This time though the torque had an initial peak of approx. 335lbft at 2100rpm, dropped to approx 325lbft (440Nm) @ 2200rpm, than grew fairly steadily back to the maximum again at 3378rpm. This initial torque behaviour was very similar to that of the DTUK results, except it recovered and continued to grow.
I can't feel this 'blip' when driving, the car just pulls in a linear fashion (when the tyres can keep up!)
All runs were in 4th gear.
As I have a DSG 'box we found that we had to conduct all runs with the accelerator peddle just on the kick down switch. Any further and the 'box would change down to 3rd. According to my
OBD app that gives a throttle position of 70% open. With the peddle on the metal (so to speak) it is 85% open. I have no idea where the last 15% is!
The dyno was at Perfect Touch Performance in Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire. (Good bunch of chaps.)
As far as 3 channel boxes are concerned, I'm fairly sure that the cam sensor just keeps the fuelling 'standard' until a certain rpm is reached, and then switches in the map. This will prevent juddering and other nasty issues at low rpm/wide throttle openings. I have never experienced any issues with the two channel TDI Tuning boxthough.
As far as MPG is concerned, I am getting between 50 & 60mpg averaged over a full tank (calculated, not displayed) depending on the type of journeys I've been doing. This is approximately 5% better than running with no box. Lovely!
I'll try and post the graphs soon as I'm sure there are many folk who will be interested.
