DTUK tuning box

I know the question was asked somewhere in this thread however I can't remember seeing a clear yes or no answer.

If I were to use one of these boxes and for whatever reason thee was an issue with the car and it had to go into the dealers, is there any way that they can see that a tuning box has been used from the ecu or anything like that, even though I would have sensibly taken the box off before the dealer visit?

Once removed there are no traces left behind

But what if VAG changed their software - could it then be detected, or is it totally impossible to be detected under all circumstances?

It doesn't flag any TD1 codes at all..

Trevor arrived as promised before 1.00pm, fitting took a while the plug on the fuel rail didn't want to come off, been out for a quick spin just need to experiment with different settings. First impressions are positive power delivery seems smoother and more responsive through the range.
Is there a guide/ info sheet or something that give approx increase per step of the setting
Thank you Andrew and DTUK team

I believe I asked long way down this thread what affect the tuning box has on the insurance ? Fine taking it off before taking to a garage, but if involved in an accident there may be no opportunity.

Trevor arrived for me today before 1pm. Fitted it in under 10 mins, like Mick_N3 says the fuel rail plug was a tad stubborn. Anyway got it set on 3+1 and there is noticeable difference in torque throughout the rev range. May try other setting but would also be interested in a guide detailing the difference between the program's and their fine tuning settings

You won't know until you ask them and a lot of insurance companies will have different policies. Also, I believe if you call DTUK they can offer advice on insurance. I was all set to call them and purchase but crashed my car a couple of weeks ago so it's off the agenda.:(

I'm not sure why you are even thinking about having the chance to take it off in the event of an accident. If you have informed you insurers then there is no need to take it off and surely you wouldn't be thinking of adding one without declaring it?

Got my Trevor today (thanks Andrew awesome service ;o) ) - Fitted - Although not driven it yet but will do tomorrow so still waiting with anticipation.

Just wondered if there were any pitfalls with this install as I've kind of done my own thing :-

There was more space on the RHS so I've mounted the unit directly behind the RHS headlamp secured in place with tie wraps on the bonnet slam panel. The harness routes are practically two straight lines with the excess length coiled up the thinking behind this is to make it even quicker to remove and refit. With the box in this position the buttons are very accessible.
