Re-raise this thread.. Sorry!! Looks like exactly the same issue I'm having with the front passenger seat. It was pushed all the way back on the runners and now will not move forward. I have had a very quick look under the seat and seems the same thing is broken on mine. Is this an easy fix, do I have to take the seat completely out of the car and if so how can I do that with the seat pushed all the way back.. So many questions.. So many issues.. thought these VW based cars were supposed to be well made, my Alfa is put together better.. And that's saying something... I have a broken rear nearside door module which leaves the door unusable.. to boot locks only when it wants to and a I have a EML fault relating to "Air Injection" which I presume is a leaky hose.. Only had the thing a month or so and already starting to think this is more work that I bargained for.. Anyway, rant over if I could get a little advice on the seat issue that would be great.. Thanks..

That's what happens when you buy a second hand car mate, we have all had the same problems ur having, not the seat problem tho. My cars never getting sold, spent to much time and money on it like most of us, no ones ever benefiting from my work, just passed mot today with two advisories brilliant

Agreeing with above poster. I had to take my seat out.

Look uder the working seat to see what cable is pulled to move the seat. .use a pliers or vice grip and you will be able to shift the seat.

Seat removal is handy enough. Two 13 mm nuts under the front if I recall right.
Remove the covers over the runners.
I found the black caps over the screws to be a pain.
Disconnect the cables.
Pull seat forward until it comes off the runners.
I got it out through back door.
Once the seat is up on the bench it's easier to work on.
My dad was giving me a hand to push the new cable in I was getting a little cross at it turned away for a second and he had it in. .
So maybe a little patience needed ;)

Brilliant al20v thank you for the information. Think the actual item broken on mine is 12b on the diagram above. Thank you again..
