Hi all,

I have a 17 plate Leon 1.4 tech fr.

I noticed a small damp patch underneath the back exhaust box (right hand side not a the twin pipe side) last night and I thought it was just condensation but the damp patch is still there this morning which suggest something is still dripping. There is no smell and it's looks like a clear substance.

Anyone noticed anything similar or have any ideas?

Checked this again before driving to work. There is definitely a drip of clear liquid (clear and no smell) forming on the underside of the back box as I saw the drip. Strange?

Check in the middle of the day (where you can) when it's warmer and see if it's still there? Any marks (which may mean long term liquid collecting there) where it's at on the exhaust box?

Used AC a lot recently?

Hi Thanks for the replied

I checked my car mid morning and just now. No drips or signs of liquid gathering :). I did have my aircon on last night on way home from work (20 min journey) so thought that might explain it although strange I still had some drips this morning. Will keep aircon off today and test tomorrow.

By the way where is the aircon unit located?

Got home (no A/C on) and small drip of water from back box again. I can only assume this is water/condensation escaping from the back box in some way? Anyone else noticed this?

Most exhausts have a hole (usually in the backbox) precisely to make sure no water sits in them. On a short journey it may not get hot enough to get rid of it I guess.

Well a by-product of exhaust gases is water...

I need to check mine too, ahah... maybe that's what the usual 2 black lines of soot I guess on the exhaust tips are...water dripping...

What Daniel says. Was following a year old Audi TT the other day and water was pouring out of the exhaust. Think we would have to change our exhausts a lot more often if this water wasn't expelled, in fact I cannot remember the last time I had to change one, must be 30 years ago.( I keep my cars 5 to 6 years on average)
