Hey guys,

had someone mapped the 1.6 yet?

I have asked sinspeed via mail 2 times, but no answer :help:

Update:
I found this site:
remap24.co.uk/dpf-fap-emulator

Looks like they have a DPF-emulator-box for a 'VW Lupo / Polo / Golf / Eos / Caddy /1.6 TDi Cr DPF Removal Emulator NEW!!!'

Is this the same engine like our one?
What do you think about this?

"what a conman www.remap24.co.uk took my money such poor workmanship, blocks cut off, box wedged in, and says i should take it to his polish friend to fix it, dont think so, one pole allready had some, dont trust em.If you want mazda fixed only true option fix with original parts, costs a bomb, stay well clear from chancers who think they can fix it."

On a car with a DPF if you stick your finger in the exhaust pipe it will be clean, try this on a car without DPF and you will be scrubbing your fingers to get the soot off.

There's also something in the new MOT test rules, I can't remember the exact wording, but I think it said if a vehicle has a cat ( petrol ) or DPF and it turns up for MOT and it's missing it will fail, please correct me if I'm wrong.

I think the MOT is only a smoke test for a diesel. If the DPF is removed they can just take it out of the original pipe so 'looks' normal. Don't think a CAT is a necessity for a derv either, but might be wrong

IIRC the new mot rules state that if the exhaust LOOKS modified ( ie has DPF or CAT boxes removed ) then the car will fail.

If the exhaust looks OK ( assuming the guts have been removed ) then as long as it passes the relevant emissions test then its OK.

I was planning on having a remap done to mine but couldn;t get the insurance company to agree to more than 10% so am now waiting for renewal time.

Dom

It wasn't Direct Line Insurance was it? They quoted me silly money when I enquired about getting my FR mapped. I'm waiting till insurance renewal as well before I get the map done now! [:@]

Thanks for your reply,I have heard that some people were thinking along those lines. I realise a " cat " isn't for Diesel thats why I put petrol in brackets after it. I don't know anyone who has had an MOT with a DPF, but wait with interest to see the results.

Thanks for that, that makes it a lot clearer.

Me too.

Have you seen the sh*t that they kick out if you boot it during a regen ?

That would fail an MOT.

You will need to make sure the car is not doing a regen when submitted for an MOT.

Hey guys,

looks like the ecu software has been cracked:

more-bhp.com/audi_seat_skoda_vw_16tdi_remaps.html

Does anybody know this company?

Ive got mine remapped now and it transforms the car :) , Got recommended to leave the DPF alone as its hard to map due to a boost spike and can cause problems

I imagine DPF's are a pain in the ar*se if you are a driving instructor. My wife had a new Zafira and the DPF failed on that after just 20 months and 17k. Obviously it got used around town a lot, but when I used it for work on occasion it would get thrashed on a 65 mile round trip so its not like it never got high revs and longer journeys. We replaced it with a non DPF equipped car when the time came.

I know my local garage (http://aasport.co.uk/) can do DPF removals (and map it out of the ECU) and they have done quite up to date stuff like E90 330d's etc. However they do advise to leave them alone and recommend only removing them if they fail. I don't think it has come in to force yet, but there is talk of it being put on the MOT check list in the future. Currently I do not believe cars are tested against the official emissions from new so as long as you can pass the general emissions test (easy in a modern car) then it should be OK.

At this time the MOT rules are to look for a visually altered exhaust system.

If it looks like you have removed the DPF or the CAT then it will fail.

If the exhaust LOOKS like it has everything fitted and it passes the normal emissions test then its ok.
