I have finally found a company that offers DPF removal for the 1.6 TDI CR. See below email if your interested.

Has anyone used Sinspeed before?

<sinspeed email>

Hi Richard,

We can offer to carry out the complete DPF Removal session on your Seat
Ibiza 1.6TDi CR (2010 Model) for just £600.00 and this includes the
following:

Engine ECU Programming - This ensures the engine will still run optimally
after the DPF has been removed, with zero errors and guaranteed no Limp
mode.

Diesel Injection Tuning - This ensures that even after the DPF is removed,
the vehicle will not smoke and will still pass an MOT - We guarantee this
& that's something no other company can offer.

Physical DPF Removal - Unlike other companies, we don't chisel & hammer
away at your DPF or even replace it with an obvious straight delete pipe.
We take your DPF off and secure it in our Industrial Pillar Drill and bore
it out professionally to the spec of your exhaust system - this results in
a unique exhaust tone with optimum performance and power.

This complete removal process will cost you just £600.00 and includes
parts, labour & programming.

Also, dependant on your location, we offer a free collect & return service
too.

For bookings, please call us on 0871 2887 666 or if you can reply with a
contact number, a member of our team will call you back.

Please let me know if you require any further information.

Kind Regards,
Support Team

I'm a little worried also, but pupils don't want to learn in a shaky car, no matter how much they like their instructor. I feel it's only a matter of time before I loose a customer over this so I must act and do something about it.

I'm trying a software update first, fingers crossed this will prevent it shaking during active regens.

Yeah, the dpf catches all the crap that usually comes out as smoke.
Any solution would need to be a dpf replacement pipe so that come MOT time you can swap the DPF back in, get the stamp, then swap it out again.

I'm not sure why they'd rather bore through the dpf than just pt a new bit of pipe in, seems like a lot more effort.

I sympathise with you mate, when it could affect your livelihood you need to do something. I just hope flashing the ECU is the answer for you.

Just another thought, most of the well known tuners, Revo and the like, have not done a remap for the 1.6 CR TDI as they were having problems getting into the ECU. I wonder how Sinspeed have managed, or have they!

I was planning on having a remap done to mine but couldn;t get the insurance company to agree to more than 10% so am now waiting for renewal time.

I took mine to West Tuning at Thruxton and it took then <10 minutes to get into the ECU - though to be fair they aren't your "Average Joe" with a laptop - so it can be done by those in the know.

If I remember there were issues with the DPF on the 170PD engine and Revo stopped offering a map. I wonder if they just dont want to get involved with that side of things again.

I think they only offer a map in combination with a DPF delete now. The 220 hp they were offering was right on the flow limit for the 170 DPF.

if the dpf is drilled out then visually it would still look like its there so would tick the box on the mot check list would it not?

Depends on the emissions, It's one thing for the DPF to be there but if the car isn't meeting the emissions limit it will still be a fail. Untill someone tries it we will not know if the Ibiza is capable of passing a MOT without a DPF fitted.

thats true but gaffer1986 shouldnt be to worried as he changes his car every 2 years so no mot for him. so might want to watch out for cars older than 3yrs if buying one

The answer to DPF removal? Don't risk it.

This is an email from AMD Essex (a well respected tuning company in Essex). I trust their word over sinspeed.

<email amd>

Good Afternoon Richard,

Thank you for your enquiry.

I am afraid there is not a DPF removal available for your car. We do recommend leaving the DPF alone on DPF equipped cars due to no one currently being able to re-map the DPF out completely to stop the car trying to regenerate and bringing the ECU light on. Some companies will try and tell you different, that they can do them but no one has got it right yet. It really is hit and miss with the DPF delete.

We have had cars in here with error codes and smoking issues that have had the DPF delete done by companies who have claimed it all works with no issues but actually it doesn't.

We have done afew in the past (on 170bhp cars) and it was hit and miss, some would work fine others would be an issue. For this reason we do try to recommend that customers do not go down this route as ourselves and no one else can really say 100%, yes it will work.

I had a better look at Sinspeeds web site last night and I was going to post a note of caution this morning.

I was particularly impressed at their explanation of the rules regarding aftermarket HID fitment. They state that most cars manufactured since 2000 have self leveling suspension or self leveling headlamps fitted as standard.

Just one of their many wild claims.

Just thought I'd keep you updated with what AMD had to say about Sinspeed's email.

<email>

Morning Richard,

Some very bold claims there, I must say. I could quite easily charge you £600 + for doing this but I would rather not as I know there are no guarantee’s it will work. Would rather have a happy customer and not carry out the modifications.
