well ive had my FR 170 since april now and i have seen the dpf light at least 6 or 7 times. i usually do town driving but do throw in some distance once a week or so. i have covered just under 10000 miles since i have owned the car. all i can say is the dpf is nothing but a pain in the arse!!! the only way to tell if it is in regeneration mode is the engine ticks over at around 1000rpm. but if you dont catch it in time then the light is on again! i have even added dpf cleaning fluid to my fuel but not to much avail! i really do think these things should either be covered by warranty or make it legal to remove them! who ever thought of these things is nothing but a complete buffoon! i nearly lads who have had these removed and still pass an emissions test with flying colours! which proves that they are not needed!
thats that off my chest!! haha

I’ve had my Seat Leon 1.6 TDi from new for 3 years now and my lease will finish this Thursday when I pick up a new VW Golf.

I’ve never had any problems with the DPF even though my journeys are short and just as an example in the 3 years and 3 weeks I’ve had the Leon I’ve only covered 15300 miles and use the car nearly every day so that equates to about 13 miles per day.

While gathering the spare key and whatever for swopping over the cars on Thursday I came across a tag on my spare key that I’ve only noticed this week after the 3 years I’ve had the car:whistle:, anyway for anyone interest this is a word by word statement taken from the tag.

Information concerning diesel particulate filter.

This vehicle is fitted with a diesel particulate filter.

This technology minimises the emissions of carbon (soot) particles. If the self-cleaning of the filter is not possible (e.g. only travelling short journeys) this will be indicated by the diesel particulate filter warning lamp.

Diesel particulate filter warning lamp.

When the warning lamp in the dash panel insert lights up, you can support the self-cleaning action of the particulate filter by driving accordingly. Please refer the Owner’s Manual booklet >> Tips and Maintenance <<. The warning lamp will go out once the filter has been cleaned.

Even though I’ve had no trouble with the DPF needless to say my new Golf has the TSi engine in it as I prefer to be safe than sorry.;)

Rip it out and remap. Whats the point of having a device that is supposed to reduce emissions but to clean it out you have to drive un-economically

Hi all

Am I right in thinking the CR engine has a lot less or hopefully no DPF or injector issues ?

That is all!

Cheers

DPF Issues

Well put it this way... since having my present Leon Dec 2012 model CR engine I've had no issues at all no warning on dash etc. Good luck .

Had the dpf delete after a few limp mode moments. Delete and remap. No more lights or limp mode. Happy days.
