On the facelift model the door latch changed. Early facelift have the old latch with 9 pins 1P2837016 (drivers door) in the electrical connector while the later ones have 7 pins 1P2837016B (drivers door).
Doesn't make it easy.

Got the same issue on my rear left door not unlocking from outside seems to be a common fault with the lock module. The parts changed in 2011 and newer ones have a D which will not fit
Pre 2011 is 1P0 839 015 - rear left (or 016 for rear right)
2011 on is Revision D so 1P0 839 015 D.
Also just wanted to add there is definitely no way of repairing these if they go wrong, I have taken my lock apart just to see what was inside and the electronics are not accessible as they are covered in hard plastic to keep it waterproof so it is not possible to replace microswitches or re solder anything like the older modules on MK4 golfs for example. Also as they stopped using the part in 2010 I have decided against going for a salvage part as they will all be 6+ years old parts and could easily be liable to the same failure.
You will need an M8 Spline bit - I got a set from halfords.

As far as i know this is an issue with the locking mechanism on the door itself. My passenger front does it, but only when it's cold out. Lol. In summer it works again.
I'll be putting a new locking mech in myself when it finally buys the farm, no way I'll be letting the stealer do it.

Another here with similar issue.

Front passenger sometimes unlocks with remote, sometimes doesn't.

This is what VCDS said on mine:
not sure if it means the front passenger has an issue too - will re scan it after fitting the rear.
