Sounds like a good plan. Make sure to post some pics from the road trip in Oct!
Remap is a top birthday gift.

You can trial the Revo map for 5 hours free of charge, that might help your decision?

make sure who ever you choose afterwards is told you have had the tril, revo hide the file in the mapping, so your car doesnt go back to the factory map, only a revo copy of the factory map. you can go to revo and have your old(correct) map put back on

Thanks for the heads up Jake, from what i've read on here, either one would be a sound choice!

The Revo trial will only give you a rough idea of how the car will feel. As it takes a couple of cold starts for the map to adapt. It all depends on what you want, smooth progressive power delivery to the red line or a power before the red line (more aggressive). Which ever 1 you choose you wont be disappointed

I would personally prefer a more agressive power delivery, Do Revo and AMD both give an agressive power delivery?

AmD is a smooth map power is held high up the rev range (near redline). Revo is not as smooth and starts to die off high up rev.

Thanks for that, i have been wondering how the two compare. I like the idea of an "agressive" map, but not at the sacrifies of the top end "zing". Im not overly keen on the way the way the power tails off at the top end in standard trim.

I think the AMD is the one for me then, its hardly lacking lowdown now so some more power at the top end would be perfect. Plus they're local, which is always handy if i have any problems!

Now i wonder if the missue fancy buying my remap early.... after all there is 10% off at the AMD RR!

UPDATE 02-09-09:
it's a small update, but an update never the less. This month the follow work has been carried out.

Full Service

including brake fluid change
Cost: £210

Cam belt and water pump
Cost £310

The above work was carried out by a local VW and Audi specialist (John Astin of colchester).

The above work was planned, however my passenger front window mechanism breaking wasn't. The window went down but it wouldn't go back up again. It happened the day before i was due to drive to Heathrow on a business trip. I managed to get it back up again but i was far from secure. This meant i wouldnt be able to drive the airport, i ended up having to get a lift to the airport the night before.

I had a look my self and it didn't look like a very nice job, far too tricky, so i got my mechanic mate to look at it for me. I'm not even sure exactly what was broken, but it's fixed now so all is well.

Window Mechanism Fix*
*Including parts and labour
Cost £75

Total cost this month £595

Total cost to date £8,195

I feel a lot happier that she has been serviced and the cam belt has been repaced, at the end of the month i will be driving down to the south of france for a couple of weeks. Having the car in tip top condition is inperative for my peace of mind. Plus i will be attended the AMD rolling road meet so i want her to be on top form.

Modifications

- Rear badge removal

After seeing a few LCR with the rear "LEON" badge removed i decided that i would do the same with mine. IMO it makes the back of the car alot less busy.

Short term wish list
- AMD Remap
- TIP
- Forge 007 DV
- THS Dog bone mount
- Coilovers
- SSK

Long term wish list
- TB Stainless exhaust
- Front & rear ARB
- New rimsor refurb
- Full Powerflex bush kit

well yesterday i visited AMD for a stage 1 remap, i was lucky enough to get it as a birthday pressie. The other half has had it booked for months. To say i was excited would be an understatement. All in all it only took just under two hour from dropping the keys off. Although it felt a lot longer than 2 hours.

I was a little apprehensive that after running the diagnostic there was going to be a problem (unlucky with previous car trouble), in fact it was quite the opposite which was a first lol. I was told she was in tip top condition, and after a run on the roller she was running an impressive set of figures for a standard car, although im not completely convince their right (dyno plot to follow shortly):

Pre Map:
244.20 BHP

234.0 ld/ft @ 3579 RPM

The after figures (With Piper Cross panel filter)
254 BHP

287.70 lb/ft @3959RPM

The BHP peak figure has only climbed 10 BHP, but in the mid range it has between 30 & 40 extra BHP.

The overall impression is the car feels so much more flexible, the extra poke certainly makes it presence felt. She now pulls really well from anything over 2k, much more than the graph would suggest, however the mid range is where it really shines!:-o

it was suspected that the standard TIP is "pan caking" under high load and holding the peak figures back slightly. So this will be replaced at some point soon as well as the DV.

Since having a couple of cold starts it feel noticeable quicker than it did when u drove it home from AMD. So to summarise i am over the moon with the way the car feels.:)

Its been said many times before, but i'll say it again. i highly recommend AMD if you're looking for a remap. The service was first class, very friendly staff and great customer service. So thank you AMD.

More Euro trip photo's to follow shortly.
