Hi guys,
My completely bone-stock, '11 plate Cupra, 6spd, manual @ 67k miles (not quite sure of gearbox code, engine code is CDLD. I think transmission code is maybe MQ2?), is currently having the gearbox bearings, clutch and DMF replaced.
I have had the input shaft bearing whine for a while and was putting off getting it looked at until the car started to exhibit some worrying symptoms recently:
1. While slowing down in gears 3-6, between 2.2k and 2.8k rpms, the car would vibrate. Vibration would go away when applying power.
2. Through the biting point, the clutch pedal felt horrible. It wasn't a pulsing, more like a really bad notchy feeling. It was felt mainly when pulling away in 1st, but you could feel it while changing gear as well.
The guys working on the car have said that the flywheel was beyond gone, in awful shape and they think that this is the cause of all of those symptoms. The bearings are worn, but not overly so, so they'll be replacing those as well.
Total cost =£1,495
Just some info in case anyone else has those symptoms.
