That explains it!!! At least it will be quicker this time now I've done it all before lol. Would I get away with leaving side to side setting as this seems ok or should I just do both and be done with it?

Thanks for reply

Try it and see ... it's not an exact science... ;)

Think I found the problem today didn't re-fit the shifter correctly on the splines so everything was out of sync. not sure if I have it 100% but at least I have six gears back. Bushes looked a bit worn will replace those and have a proper check hopefully all will be good.

Looking forward to the test drive tomorrow !!

Did mine today, got the bolts from work and all seems ok. A little stiff, but I'm going to order some 42draft bushes and see what happens. 6th is the stiffest, but how often do you use 6th? When it is used its for a long time anyway. Here's a pic.

I did both. Massive difference though, really pleased. Cheers everyone!

You did reset the linkage?

It should be firm through all gears equally.

read the entire thread and am pretty happy with the whole process... until we get to the reset. I've read the forge guide but cant really get my head round this bit.

At which point in the forge guide does the "reset" begin?

Lee - I'm thinking of sleeving the M8 through the linkage. Off the top of your head, do you know whether there is 2mm of play to acommodate an 11mm OD bush?
