just a quick query to my fellow tdi fr owners. (long story short) - i had the dreaded dash rattle which i reported to seat for repair. 1st attempt failed to solve problem. in the mean time i had a double din apline head unit fitted. now its gone back in a 2nd time they are blaming the head unit installation which has got nowt to do with the rattle and want to charge me £160 saying its not under warranty!!!

Considering ive spent a fortune on deisel going back for which seems for every fault on the SCN i.e. airbag light, rattles, bulb malfunction, etc. seems a bit rich.

im starting to dispise a car i really enjoy...

Has anybody else had similar problems?

Where do I start...It's been 6 months of hell with this car.....:cry::cry:
The main problem being the DPF... but there ahs also been the wiper's, mirrors, wheel bearings (noisy), economy ( max 35mpg motorway driving), and now the dipstick is being blow out of the engine everytime I drive it..........[:@][:@][:@]

I can honestly say the biggest mistake I have ever made was buying the bleeding thing, should have stuck with the Mk 1, TDI (150)..

i also had the mk1 150 fr and it was a great car. being let down numerous times by the dealer/stealer after spending nigh on 17k is a disgrace.

lets be honest i shouldnt have had to replace the headunit in the first place if it wasnt so crap. small speakers need the 'loud' function for exta bass (which i noticed is on the american model) we get pty. does anyone EVER use PTY? the aux input is poo(r) cos its only a analogue input and the ipod connection from SEAT is equally as bad. thats without the fact that the tweeters are high enough to make your ears bleed.

havin bought the alpine unit thankfully you can do enough with the sound to make the cars speakers sound good. but it cost me £750 for the pleasure...

I heard the best way of improving the stereo's sound is to replace the speakers, with Kappa Infinitys or something like that. It's on my todo list.

Also, no real problems from me. Bit of wetwindows at the front driver side, but it's only a bit of dampness, doesn't seem to get in the car.

Sounds funny at 1500-2000rpm - I have no idea why this is, it runs fine.

And I had a rattle in the passenger door, but it seems to have been fixed at its 10000 mile service.

dont waste your money on the infinity's. a pair of £25 speakers on e-bay isnt gonna make any difference. plus they are co-axial which will get on your nerves as it sounds even flatter (all sound from the same position bass/mid/treble). ive heard these over the stock ones and there is def no improvement. Also treble and bass need need to be separate for a improved sound stage/imaging.

the reason the speakers sound pants IS for the following 2 points.

1. the speaker housing (in the doors) on the new leon is naff. its like havin holes in home entertainment speakers. the mounting of them must have been a design after thought.

2. if you DONT have a bass boosting feature on a head unit such as loud function, D-bass, etc then it will always sound flat!! dont believe me? then switch them off and on in a car which has got this function. (unless you have a sub.
