Right a lesson for all do not mix pheasants, a dual carrigeway and a Seat Ibiza.

Happily driving down to "santa pod" today for the gti spring fest when a pheasant decided to swoop across the dual carridgeway with out the "green man" being lit (sorry you've got to laugh you'd cry else!!)

Anyway despite heavy braking and our speed of 75mph avoidance wasnt an option and the inevitable happened.........................................

:wtf: That is some bird strike. I hope your insurer is sympathetic as the claim form is going to end up in the funny file.

I lost part of the LC's grill to a pheasant 18 months ago which ended up costing £100 or so to replace plus I still find stray feathers in the engine bay even now. I must admit I'd never really appreciated how solid the little bug*ers are until then.

Sorry for your ruined day and car but look on the bright side, at least you weren't at 500 ft flying a Tornado!

Gutted for you mate, looks real nasty. When Ed and John told me, they though you were joking untill you sent them the pics. You missed a great day unfortunately, with the fastest diesel being moi, with a 14.6 against mike obd, with a pretty strong headwind too.

Anyway, im sure you'll come to the next one, hope everything gets sorted quickly with the car. At least none of you were seriously hurt though eh.

Ouch! Never would have thought a pheasant could cause that much damage. Seems Seats are just cursed this year. At least you guys weren't hurt.

Something tells me we're going to have to arrange another trip to Santa Pod now. Just for you guys, of course ;)

Sorry to see that Nath, hope you and Mark are ok and that it wont take to much to sort the ibiza. Bloody birds, i got one stuck head first in my old Polo's grill, when i pulled it out its head came off.

I think the sheffield crew are cursed, we cant seem to keep a straight car between us! Anyone want to run a pool as to whose gonna bend theirs next?

Ewww....bloody indeed !

Nathan -> Sorry to see that - at least no-one was hurt though. I had a very near miss a couple of years ago - was tanking it down an autobahn in Germany on holiday, around 130mph, when a pidgeon flew straight across and just missed the top of my Ibiza's screen, must have been millimetres away from hitting. I dread to think what would have happened if we'd hit it at that speed.
I recall making an odd gurgling "agghhh" sound of fear as I saw it flying across towards us; we slowed down a bit after that !
Good job you were wearing glasses; we had a screen go when I was a bit younger, and there were fine, razor-sharp shards everywhere in the car, like needles.

Brummy - It isnt me, ner ner its actually Ed... tho ive racked up another one he wasnt part of, so think we are even now!

Muddy - Yup, its all inside his car, and im randomly finding glass in my pockets still.

Lucky it was a nice morning, as me and nath had nothing else to do than sit on the side of the pavement and wait for a phonecall or txt....... from the AA.

Couldnt really sit on the amount of class around the car!!

I didnt mind too much had a few of Naths uni "girl" m8s worring over me :p

Oh, and maybe Nath :D
