Just thought i'd update this thread...

I've just got the bonnet open and removed the bumber, grill, slam panal, rad and air bag. I'll take some pics tomorrow and upload them.

One problem though, i had to cut the bonnet release cable to open the bonnet... Is this a major problem?

Cupra Kid, when you got your new air bag did you have to take it to SEAT to set it up with your ECU? If so can you remember how much it was? Thanks.

Once again thanks for all the help everyone. The more i take the car apart the more it looks like i can just change the parts. :)

Bonnet release cable comes in two parts, both are around £7 iirc as i had them done on the cordoba not so long ago.

As for the Airbag i put the new modules in and had the code cleared at a local garage later on, they did it during a service so could'nt give you an exact price.

Front panels are like hens teeth, you need to buy one that has the same dimensions as your radiator or else the radwon't fit properly. Aircon makes a difference too.

When you say front panals, do you mean the slam panal? What others? The front end of the Ibiza comes in 3 parts, (i think). The upper grill, lower grill, and bumper. And the slam panal and rad, but i should be able to get the upper and lower grills and bumper as i set, right?.. Is that what you meant when you said panals?

Is the front end of the mk1 Cordoba the same as the Ibiza? It looks the same but does anyone know if the bumber, grills, and bonnet, would fit my Ibiza?

At the expense of sounding dumb, i'll need a rad from a 1.9TDI right?.. What else will i need from a 1.9TDI? The bumper, grills and bonnet can come from a petrol car can't it? (I'm just making sure before i search.)

Thanks.

yea body panels can come from any car buddy (obviously ibiza bits and im sure cordoba bits also. Rad will probably be car specific but if you phone GSF or something the like an ask them to cross reference the part numbers for that and any petrol models im sure theyll do that for you to see if any other will fit

Front panel=slam panel, radiator holder, bumper bar/crossmember in one.

You have to make sure you're buying the right one for your car. Cars with aircon got bigger rads and different engines sometimes got smaller rads. If you're buying a new one, give your reg to a motor factor like GSF and they'll sort one out for you.

Alternatively, call Intapart in Daventry and see if they have an Ibiza TDI in stock. They can take the bits off and make sure the parts are right, then its their fault if its wrong.

Just thought i'd update this thread...

The car is finished! Well almost, it still needs painting but i might not bother, and it still needs an airbag but Mark said he's going to help me out with that :)

Just took it for a test drive and it drives like normal. Doesn't pull to one side under heavy accelaration or breaking and it corners as it should.

The parts cost about £110 so i'm very pleased. Only 10% of what i thought it would cost :D. I surpose paint will raise this figure, but, as said i might not bother painting it.

I'll upload some pics tomorrow.

A big thanks to everyone who's helped! It felt sooo good to drive it again! :)

Ok here's the car (almost) complete... The bonnet isn't flush. That's because i don't dare close it incase i can't open it again lol. (I can't tell if the lock works properly so don't want to risk it lol)

One thing though, what's this wire and where does it go? (It's the one with the red tape around it...) I'll take the tape off tomorrow and take another pic. Incase it hels, there's a blue connector underneath the tape...

Once again. Thanks to everyone who helped me getting the car back on the road.

diy paint job ? will be cheap

Will i have to get paint from SEAT do you think? Will it come in a tin or ready to spray in a can, ie will i have to buy a 'sprayer'.

I dont surpose you know roughly how many cans i'd need do you? and roughly how much it would cost. (Never spray painted anything before lol.)
Thanks.

The thing is, i'm only gonna use it for a short while until i can raise enough cash to get another car.

You can tell from the driver's side front wing it's been in an accident and at the minute i'm unsure of the bonnet lock so i cant close the bonnet fully. I could try and get a new lock as the one i'm using now is quite old, but it was working on the car it came off...

Anyway, i don't want to spend any more money on it as i don't think i'm going to be able to sell it. I'd feel bad selling a car that's been in an accident, but most of the damage is covered up...

Realistically how much is it worth bearing in mind age, mileage and accident damage NOW balance that against the cost of painting it and see if it is worth it e.g. if it's only worth £500 but would cost £200 to get it painted then I wouldn't bother about the colours. It won't be any safer or faster even if the colours match!

i didnt know you wanted a new car. Even if my car was worth £500 and cost £200 to have sprayed id do it as i love my car, you have to weigh up everything. If your selling i wouldnt bother but if you were keepin etc and had put loadsa hard work in to it then it would have been worth it

where does it come from dude? trace it back maybe??

Here's where the wire connects from... (It's the black thing to the left of the expansion tank. Incidently, what is this part?)

Hmmm, that's strange because the alarm still works  But then again there are other wires coming from it aswell...

Thanks though. Brings me one step closer to finding out what the wire is...

Get it sprayed up if its been mechanically well looked after and its not silly mileage you'll get £500+ for it even though it has had a bump.

I just explain to potential buyers what happened tell them how it was repaired

TDi's sell like hot cakes
