I had a 220 GTI aswell, I traded it in for the turbo and most of the mods on the GTI came off and went onto the turbo which saved a bit of money, my mate bought it off me when I got my LCR and he has wrecked it

no mate, he had to sell for parts on ebay...a real shame cos it was immaculate. your engine pic looks killer also. the design of the cooling on these cars is real bad, is there even an intercooler?, funny thing is it still shifts even tho they get hot..

Yeah it had an intercooler but it was realy small, You can just see it behind the fans in the pic, it's only about 6" high and it's a lot of work to fit a bigger one, They also had an oil cooler that sat behind the engine at the bottom but that was small aswell.

I noticed my car was making a new noise yesterday :( It was makeing a sucking noise when under boost, It was boosting up Ok but it did'nt hold the boost aswell as it normally does, upon inspection I found a split hose comeing from the charge pipe  Boost leak, at least it was'nt anything to bad.

Yipeee :D Bit's arrived from Forge today :funk:
I ordered a meter of reinforced silicon tubing, http://www.forgemotorsport.co.uk/content.asp?inc=product&cat=0022SH&product=FMSH-08
I used about 700mm of the tube and ran it down the tip and back up the side of the DV, over the top of the engine and then onto the charge pipe. It's a pretty easy job and only took and 45 min's.

Old pipe and off cut of the new pipe

The old pipe and split around and along the top of the pipe where it joined the charge pipe

All fitted and working with NO boost leaks :D
