I'm not too sure what it is to be honest but I thought I'd start with the cheapest bit.
This is what I'v got to try tomorrow.

From looking at the seat when it was out, the rest of the seat base is one piece, there about £300 from a dealer but you can get them on Ebay for a lot less.

Bit of progress made today.
For a while now my driver's seat has been making a knocking noise when ever I moved in the seat or went over a bump, apparently this was a common fault and a lot of seat bases got replaced under warrenty by VW.
A couple of weeks ago I removed the drivers seat to see if I could find the problem, the only thing that did'nt look right was the castors on the back of the seat, there was a lot of play on them, so I removed them and wraped a bit of insulation tape around the shaft to try and reduce the movment, and then greased up everything that moved, refited the seat but the knock was still there :censored:
Then after a tip off from Kenny@AmD I ordered a set of the castors from Ebay :funk:

Unfortunatly this did'nt cure the problem either :censored:

So I removed the seat again and had another look and hopefully I'v found it, In the middle of the seat is the locking mechanism for moving the seat back and forth,

Inside this is a large wheel which was'nt moving, after a bit of WD40 and a fair bit of grease it was moving again,

I then refitted the seat and the noise had gone.
Hopefully this has cured the problem otherwise it'll need a new seat base which are about £350 from a dealer, there are a few on Ebay for between £40-£60 depending on part No, or a compleate new set of seat's, maybe R32's

I was wondering when you were going to paint those pieces black. Looks so much better in my opinion

Did you have to sand them down much first?

The choice is between R32's, LCR Recaro's or Recaro Speed's.
But they are way done the list of things to do at the moment.
Next big thing will be either coilovers or a set of Eibach Pro springs.

Matt finish spraying looks great mate.

Glad next up is to go lower ;)

R32 seats would be my choice out of those. But then you can't go wrong with the LCR recaro's...

Darren, surely you could just buy and seat (OEM) meant for the mk1 Leon and just swop the base over..

The problem I'v got with mine was ment to be common so theres a good chance if I buy secound hand seat's they will have the same problem.
You can get the bases but you then have to rebuild the seat useing my padding and cover.

i thought your car was on springs allready mate.

Na not yet :D

I decided to make a start on the S3 side engine cover today,
First thing to do wash fit the bigger 5.5L washer bottle, this has to be fitted as the OE one does'nt line up with the hole in the cover.

So gave the bottle and quick clean and a coat of matt black paint

OE 2L bottle 's & 5.5L bottle

The old bottle came out fairly easily

But trying to get the bigger bottle in was a right pain in the ass, in the end I had to remove the upper boost hose, back of the head light, HID ballast and it would have helped if I could off taken the hose from the PS bottle off, when I finally got it in I realised the hole for the pump was in a different place so the pump did'nt reach  to make it fit the wire's and water pipe's would need to be extended :( this is'nt the end of the world but after looking at it all again I just dont think I'm going to be happy with the way the cover will fit, so for now the project is on hold.
