Yes I let Smartube run forward on the Terramar.
Ateca is to be kept going for the time being. The Terramar is built in Hungary as we know on the Audi line. Poor Skoda just having the Kodiak mk2 which is part of the ICE big SUV original family (AllSpace,
Tarraco and Kodiak).
Tarraco never got the Cupra upgrade unlike the
Ateca the mid range VAG family (Tiguan,
Ateca, Karoq).
On the Skoda front the Karoq is left hanging like the
Ateca. The ICE MQB platforms v the MEB platforms. That begs the question of which entity of the MQB platform the Terramar sits on. Wiki hasn't caught up with that one.
For the big Cupra EVs it's the Tavascan for that. Wonder whether the Chinese plant is producing any Audi big EVs
. Skoda will get an Elroq as the
Ateca EV progression built in Europe. Where you get the ICE platform and the electric platform but you have to jump platforms to keep within the brand Karoq (ICE) to Skoda Elroq (EV).
Tarraco Cupra ICE if they had ever marketed it to Tavascan (EV). If you got an
Ateca you have to go large to a Tavascan or swap brands and go to a Elroq.
Back on the marketing front "Tribe" marketing is evident in their launch of the Terramar, they are unashamed naming it in the presentation. Aspirational marketing. Don Draper would have been pleased. Peggy might have been there wearing that Cupra dress (now head of marketing). You can however get a 100% EV Terramar Yaht and America's cup or something logo on the car for those aspirational dreams.
In the three SUVs in the VAG brands (3x3, VV, Seat/Cupra and Skoda, small, big, large) Audi never got a look in, Audi was there but was so refined it couldn't be mentioned. Now Cupras get built on the Audi production line in Hungary, presumably as the branding goes up market and build quality.
The Tavascan for those that want to go EV gets hit by the European tariffs on Chinese built cars if they live in the EU. Us Brits escape that.
Still no sign of the Cupra dealership expansion round here. Seat will service Cupras but can't sell them. Handicap for those that want to buy a Cupra but thin on a local dealer network. Lastly but not least why the Tavascan was nicknamed the Capri was the joint MEB platform it's built on with the new electric Ford Capri... it all makes sense.
Those Cupra seats look good
.
