Thanks, not sure what to do as yet need to drive it first 👍. i assume stock might be enough.

Curious if anyone has one without a pan roof. Reviews suggest it’s a worthwhile option, but I dint have a choice. Unless I buy one with a few thousand miles on the clock.

Yes, I have a Cupra R ST without panoramic roof. I skipped this option for several reasons:
- to avoid possible problems in the future, like noises or leakage
- a personal preference for a solid and closed roof (less weight, more headroom, no distraction from above)

An ABT tuningbox bought with a new car for the special offering while keeping the warranty would be interesting. But otherwise I agree with @Damo H , other tuning options offer more performance for not too much more money, even for less money if the ABT box would be bought for the normal price. (Apart from the warranty.)

Do you have the 4Drive version? Looking for as much reassurance as possible. i don’t think I’m to fussed about the pan roof, mine has had issues all sorted under warranty (in a VW).

I drive for work 3 days a week but could do 10000 business miles a year. I know I am losing mpg (15mpg by the looks of it) but comfort on those longer runs. What is the opinion there?

I have a 4 drive ST and I can certainly say if it's in comfort mode it certainly is..... Great on a run and the fuel consumption is pretty good..... Easily over 30mpg on the motorway..... They're great cars. Mine has the pano roof and I love it but I could equally live without it...... The only thing I wish mine had is the bucket seats.......

All SEAT Leon Cupra R ST cars are 4Drive.
Driving in Comfort mode is just like the name says, great comfort. Driving in Sport or Cupra mode everything is sharpened up, but I realy cannot call it uncomfortabele. Only on very bumpy roads with deep potholes it's getting harsh. But in Individual mode you can set up your own mixture of settings.

Bearing in mind you would be voiding a perfected good 3yr warranty having it 3rd party remapped.

If you are getting a good deal I wouldn’t worry about the ABT so much, it’s a nice warranty safe boost if you can get one, but it’s not a game changer.

If you want more performance then a proper remap is always an option, probably when warranty period is up I’d suggest.

Only negatives I could suggest on this car would be interior trim rattles.
I’ve had a few and it has been back to the dealer for one bad case to be fixed.
Other than that I’ve tracked a few down myself and sorted it with felt tape or a small piece of foam.
I’m guessing the Audi S4 would be much better in that regard.

I would definitely try to look at both cars. If the cost is the same, personally, I would go with the audi. I've had German cars for years and they really are better quality. I recently downsized (monetary wise) from a nearly new merc c43 to a4 avant as I'd only driven 2k miles in a year and only insure for 6k miles normally. I'd rather see the money back in my savings than sat on my drive. I then changed again to the cupra estate as I missed the fun side (it is nippy), I also missed the 4drive and also didn't want future dpf issues with the a4 diesel and my low miles.
The a4 was a 2020 facelift and the cupra st 300 is a 2020 69 reg but I understand the Seat haven't been updated for quite a while which to me is obvious.
A few things I've noticed already, some I knew before I bought it.

Cupra carpets and mats feel very thin compared to others
Buttons and switches etc don't look or feel as good quality as the others
The materials/ finish on the dash looks cheap
Satnav. I've only used it once but I was looking for house number 217 in an area I'm unfamiliar with and satnav said it only went up to number 97.
Seats aren't as comfy. They feel smaller and again, not as good quality
The infotainment system isn't very good. The graphics seem cheaper and it seems quite slow
I'm used to having remote controlled boot door. It's like going backwards using the manual boot handle to open and close it the old fashioned way. No motorised parcel shelf either which isn't a necessity but noticeable
The bonnet doesn't have gas struts so it's like going back in time manually propping it up with the rod or whatever it's called
Just sitting in it feels inferior to the other cars I've had
Even the cupra key fob is cheap 😌

Good things about the Cupra
It's a quick estate under the £40k tax bracket
Mine isn't the R so cheaper than past cars so I've put money back into savings by changing
It doesn't attract attention which suits me as it doesn't seem to attract boy racers and I don't worry about parking it up like I did my mercs

If I'd have had the choice of quick Seat or quick Audi at the same price, I'd have gone Audi

It sounds like I dislike the cupra, I don't but it's very different quality wise to the audi and you saying the cupra and s4 you are viewing are the same price.

Perhaps the R is a big step up interior wise from the model I have but if it isn't, I'd go audi

I say they are the same price but a reduction in the Seat and enhanced p/x on my VW means it’s overall £5500 difference. The Audi has 4500 miles on the clock and is a 69 plate and the Seat is new. The Audi-does not have adaptive suspension but has advanced cruise control. To throw in the mix a BMW 330d again similar in price all the options .......the Audi and BMW are saloons.

Its interesting hearing all the opinions, and I think that as I drive (post pandemic) more with work. What concerns me is comfort and cockpit. I get a consistent theme about quality, but also that you buy this car for the drive. The deal is good but I might have more of a balance with the other options, but less unique.

I’d say Sarah has summed it up very well to be honest, can’t really argue with anything said there, at the end of the day it’s a Seat after all and Audi overall quality is always better.
Only thing I would question is the comment about a fast Seat or Audi at the same price point... there isn’t any ???
Seats are cheaper and that’s the point.

Also the S4 is a big heavy diesel iirc and also so is the 330d.
Both lovely cars, but they aren’t going to be the same fun to drive as a Cupra R ST.

The ‘R’ is superior to the standard 4Drive in some ways as has extras such as better styling and carbon splitters etc etc, heated alcantara bucket seats and steering wheel, reversing camera, better handling (possibly due to camber and tweaked suspension), push start button, wireless charging, maybe some more stuff I’ve forgotten.
However the UK version misses out on some of the Tech that the Lux versions of 4Drives get such as adaptive cruise control, HBA lane assist etc etc etc.

If you are after a motorway cruiser maybe a Lux 4Drive will be better than an R ST for your purposes ?

I think this is my issue - I can’t get a new Audi or BMW new for anywhere close to this price. The sacrifice is cockpit quality and a few gadgets. It’s been great hearing all this advise. It comes down to if I want to have more fun and drive satisfaction or cockpit quality, something more unique or not.

Sound insulation- is it relatively quite in the cockpit? I guess I have managed to everything I need here, so thank you all.

It comes down to Audi unless they increase the offer by 3k on my p/x it’s £5500 more on a 69 plate (BMW same in terms of mileage and cost) then the Seat is a better purchase for the money.

Sound insulation, it’s not bad in terms of wind noise.... but there is quite a bit of road noise through the tyres.

You can improve things yourself by adding more sound proofing to the boot area and wheel arch areas but I believe the stock Conti 5P tyres are notoriously bad for road noise and others have changed them for the recommended Michelin Pilot Sport 4’s encounter make a difference.
I’m still on the original Contis so can’t comment on this

You really need to take this car for a test drive I think.
Turn off the stereo and close windows and just listen and feel for yourself so you can gauge the noise and comfort.

Yes, if we were not in Lockdown I would of been out in the car for a run. I drive a VW Passat 190 R-Line. It’s like driving your armchair nice and comfy but a bit boring. I looked at the new Edition but it’s a bit ugly.
