Think i would get atleast £6500 for the 206 in a years time, what do uze think?

No chance, quick look at Parkers (so this is very rough) and PX price is about £6.3K now... so in a years time it will definately be a bit less than that, thats a guarentee.... thats one thing you can count on with French cars, depreciation.

I have only had my cupra about a month now and im afraid im not really impressed with the handling etc of it.
Also i have just got a new job which is gonna involve alot of travelling so the Ibiza isnt the most economical car.

Anyway my Cupra is a 2002 - 02 plate
30k miles
Full service history
Few mods (listed below with all receipts)
Onvi Yellow
Black wheels
Alpine TV/DVD headunit custom built into centre console

And i have been offered a straight swap for a:
2005 -05 plate 206 quicksilver
1.6 16valve
Spax coilovers
Forced air induction kit
Powerflow full system exhaust
17" gti 180 alloys
16k miles

So what do you guys think, should i swap, obviously use may be biased towards the cupra but i need to think of how much both cars will be worth in a years time when i go to sell them etc.

Thanks for the help

Im probably biased here but to go from a cupra to a 206, i dont really think there is a question! Stay with the cupra in my opinion

i just couldnt do that change, the lack of power in the lame 1.6 petrol would just do my head in day in day out. i wouldnt do it simply on those grounds wouldnt matter what the car was....

Yeah i agree, dont down grade unless you have to! I went from a cupra to a MK2 Golf GTI 1.8 16V, it was rapid but still not as good as the cupra

I would not have got anything lower than that

I think you should just change the suspension on the car with FK Coilovers or something. i have heard mixed views on the ride of the H & R Cup Kit

well i have just bought a house so financial situation and having to be a bit more sensible has to come into it aswel.

Could really afford to change suspension etc because of this either.
Quite like my cupra but aslo makes alot of clunky noises at the front when i drive slowly and and gears are very sticky/notchy

Yeah i understand

Surely if you sold the H & R Cup Kit you could afford to get something else to try? It also sounds like it needs a Service?

Gota be worth more than 6k I would of thought, mines an X plate, on 50k and i paid 5k for it and that was cheap at the time, at presents its probably worth the same as the 206 and will be worth more in a years time against the value of the 206.

The fact that ur even considering it says that the Cupra probably isnt for you, especially as your prepared to drive a 206 lol:lol:

Serviced at 26k so that was 5k ago, maybe needs to be looked at tho

Just thinking that because of me buying a house etc the 206 is under warranty till march 2008 so any problems then they should sort them but if i have problems with the ibiza then will cost me a bit. Altho i shouldnt have any problems with the ibiza its still something to consider i feel

See what you's are getting at about the depreciation of the 206 tho and definately is something i should be considering aswell

I wouldnt buy the 206, i know people who have had no end of problems, and as there are so many available resale values are lower than mk3 cupra's. If you want economy get a diesel, maybe a mk3 ibiza TDi sport or even a higher mileage mk4. Downgrading to a 206 1.6 8v isnt goping to cut your fuel bills drastically. Going from a 2.0litre GTi to a 1.4 Polo hasnt done it for me. Only get about 30 miles more to the tank.

Yeah but some say it should be Serviced every 5,000 miles? Im not saying everyone does it but just a thoughy

Also you have to remember that the cupras are a VERY sought after car, especially the MK3s, there just is not that many around in good nick and that have not been REALLY modified
