I've got a 60 plate cupra, standard atm but booked for a map soon, just coming up on 10k. No problems (touch wood) yet.

I've had a look on ETOS. Looks like the fuel pumps are different for vehicles built after 1/11/2010. But the injectors are still the same.
Injectors are new but use old part number.

Yeah its a ETKA minus a few features. Part numbers are

Injectors = 03C906036F
Fuel pump upto 01/11/2010 = 03C127026D
Fuel pump from 02/11/2010 = 03C127026E

I've decided to go to sh!ark performance for the map. Keep hearing good things about their work.

thats who im with. They have group buy on at the moment which will save you £150 if your quick

Spoke to TSR today, decided to use the 1 remaining 'good' piston as a pattern to order forged custom ones from germany. Plan is to rebuild then check setup on rolling road. Need it to last this time as it owes me too much money to walk away. There is a good car there somewhere, but I shouldn't have to remorgage to find it.

If mine blew i think id do the same make it stronger and up the power, but then your limited by the DSG, so its a pain in the a$$ really

but stage 2 takes into account a more efficient exhaust, so less restriction = more power but not necessarily more fuel. Add an exhaust and your exhaust gas temperatures will reduce so they can run slightly higher boost as well.

Stage 2+ takes into account the higher efficiency of the exhaust and intake, and advances in ignition timing due to the cooler inlet charge from the intercooler, so not necessarily more fuelling.

Each time you add these bolt ons for stage 2 or 2+ the newer maps dont necessarily ask for any more fuel than in stage 1, but they ask for more boost or timing as the new mods will allow the more aggressive setup and thats where you getting the extra power.

IMO this is just your guesswork no offence. i doubt revo have tuned the car so the injectors are within a inch of there life, they are just bad parts used. your saying this because you dont have revo if you did your opinion would be different. people love to always put the other option they didnt choose down.

dont quite get this, surely this is covered under warranty? it was an injector fault that caused the engine to fail was it not?

building a stronger engine wont fix a injector fault, yes your have a stronger engine but for what reason you wont be able to run the power due to the dsg as said above its not needed and your money you shouldnt need to spend down the drain!

His car is heavily modified and trust me, the dealers would turn him away at the door for warranty work.

heavily modified as in stripped? ibizaracebrake are you running anything more than revo stage2? personally wouldnt class stripped air filter cat back and coilovers heavily modified.
jc i think you prob have more engine upgrade work done than him. where dose that put you with warranty?

if im wrong about ibizaracebrakes spec sorry in advance and by no means am i suggesting its not a nice/good car

I'll have to check, but I believe track days, drag events, engine remapping, exhaust modifications will all make warranty claims challenging.

Done a bit more digging on ETOS. Looks like there is a different piston for CAVE engines change point Early December 2010. Forgot to note the part numbers though

I know. Too good of an offer to miss ;)

mOrk is right and ibizaracebrake has done alot of those and if I can remember he has had a few more stuff done to his car, full custom exhaust tbe, not too sure if he has twintercooler, intake etc, etc. I know dealers would run like mad if he tried to claim under warranty, I am stage 2 with TBE and map, that's it. I fortunately have a relatively understanding dealer as a good few dealers down here are registered REVO dealers too so dependant on the dealer and how good your relationship is with them, they may be more accomodating than some of the other dealers I have heard about.

No offence taken,

ive logged this car and my last car and the difference on fuelling with stage 1 and 2 was minimal. stage 2+ was vastly different but purely as it was designed around a new fuel pump, which is something that looks likely to happen on this engine, so its not guessing, its an observation of my own experience, logs and other peoples logs which are backed up by talking to tuners regarding map changes etc.

You say its down to the injectors being bad parts? Is that not guess work, maybe its true, but two of the guys in this thread with their injectors being done are mapped

Any how im not slating revo at all, as said they always make top figures and the revo cars always top the 1/4mile times but long before i got my car remapped i had made my decision not to use them based on the points i had stated previously in this thread. REVO were my last choice. sh!rk, APR and P-Torque were the maps i was seriously considering.

You say i wouldnt be saying this if i were revo, but i would, id be considering changing as the last thing i wold want is to be rebuilding an engine. I did it previously on my last car when it had bluefin. The AFR was shocking and borderline dangerous so i paid out for a brand new tune.

Rest assured though i fired an email straight to my tuner regarding the injectors to be sure i have the headroom, and if its borderline i will be going back to have the fuelling retarded to make it safe.

I agree with Mork regarding the warranty, id imagine any car coming in with stripped interiors, loud exhausts, semi slick tyres etc will be scrutinized. However Jc_Boc has a point, that a revo sponsored dealership might take a kind approach

ibizaracebrake, have you spoken with INI http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=253?
I'm pretty sure they already have quite a few uprated parts for the 1.4TSI. Will save you money sending off for custom ones from Germany. Think they are also working on a turbo and I know they are doing an uprated clutch pack.

It could be a great opportunity to be their test bed for new parts thus bringing the cost down.

Other option, due to the cost implications may be worth putting the standard parts back on, have the stock map put back on and take the car to a dealership to see if they will sort it under warranty.

Cutting through all the techno babble and hoo haa thats been written so far by everyone (I just sit here scratching my head with all the babble). The bottom line for you is that I hope all this works out for you chap and you get the car that you desire, I agree there is a good car in there but I have to say why should you sell a kidney on ebay and your soul to the devil to pay for it?

Thing is that for me sat on our drive way is our Boc, I have to say after 18 months I am less than impressed with it in some ways and behind it the Focus RS, 6 years old, amazingly reliable 250 huffing and puffing ponies under the bonnet and it is quieter, rattles less and does not drink oil like mad. No issues with anything, just plods along, last month it has been serviced and MOT'd and not a thing wrong apart from new cam belt pads discs etc. Small upgrade on the pads and discs and a caliper re furb but that was it.

Do have to wonder about the 1.4 TSI, you can write all you like, surmise, guess, technobabble for ever, but my personal opinion is: The small capacity engine with twin charge; was it desgined to just fill a gap in the market and be all eco friendly giving reasonable power for little running costs and not be massively over engineered for tuning purposes possibly? Everything is on a budget these days, times are tight no matter who you are, The dreaded home techno tinkerer starts playing with the car squeezing out more and more from a small engine, reality is at some point its going to go "Er scuse me mate Im not quite big enough for this!" Shame but there it is. Final thought, 1.6 TSI? or 1.8 TSI? that bit bigger that bit more capacity? could that be a better option

After all you cant squeeze a golf ball through a hose pipe can you?

Which is why I am going to another brand, ok running costs will go up slightly but I would rather have that than have a car that spent 4 months in the workshop like last year.:D

Have to agree with this, there has to be a point where the engine say's f**k it and gives up

Gutted for you though Paul, hope you get it sorted soon.

Exactly, from what my dealership said this is one reason why they dropped the brand. The support in the last 3 years "diminished considerably" The technicians had no training initially on the new engine and has very much been a learning curve. I got on well with the service manager and tbh did feel his pain, the only reason mine got more or less sorted is becuase I had commenced legal action. However, we forum users are only a small percentage of the owners world wide and there are many who are not as sad or anally retentive as we are about their cars. Tin boxes on wheels for them no more no less

Danng Im getting all phylosophical today!!!

Just to be clear, plan is not to get more power, just the same power more reliably. Will use updated injectors and different version of the Revo map. As I intended to keep the car for some years, I didn't get it Dealer serviced at 10,000 miles as I had already changed the oil every 1,000 miles, as well as a coolant change, brake fluid, pollen filter etc myself. Had to go for the forged pistons as it reminds me of all the Cosworths I drove years ago, loved them. Only 2 months to wait till the cars ready.:(
