Cupra 290 exhaust on 280 ?

So if I am right. Correct me if I’m not, anything with a part code that has 253 609 will fit a Cupra?

Unfortunately not, the designation 253 609 is given to all rear silencers on the MQB platform as far as i can tell.
What fits on the cupra is K and AF. If for example you type 5F4 253 609 A into google you will get the 1.4tsi FR exhaust.

But presumably any Golf GTi back box would fit as it's essentially the same car. Obviously different tips though.

Yes in theory. Whether they would be louder or not is the question.

Interestingly the VW forums are saying that they think the Clubsport s exhaust is based on the 290 box! The plot thickens.

It may well be, the 290 can be loud so why design a new one when it's already there to be used?

And there was me thinking the Cupra R was based on the Clubsport S box :D

At least I know now you can buy the oem box if you want and effectively have a 290 set up although it is pretty expensive for a back box but let's see.
