Sometimes you get so infactuated you forget reality, and throw stupid amounts on it.
I know, I did on mine too.

The money I spent on that, could of got a really nice car, why I am hardly doing anything to the Bora now, except service it, fix broken parts, and run it as a commuter to work.

Money saved = a better car :)

But follow your heart, or use it as a commuter too and do no more mods to it (looks awesome as it is)?

I know what you mean mate. With the price of fuel these days the Ibiza is a good communter and doesnt take that much fuel everyweek for the mileage I do. I may just keep it for the time being and use it as a commuter, then hopefully I will be able to save for a new car and by the time I get it live closer i.e the same town as I work.

Unless your going to buy a brand new car I would stick with the ibiza. You know the history and know it's been well looked after and is reliable. I'd say keep it and keep sticking the money in on getting it serviced and preventative maintencance.

Any other used car you buy you always have the risk of the unknown faults etc. Also the cost of keeping the ibiza well serviced and good is much less than depreciation on another new car will be.

It wouldnt be a brand new car, it would be a used I would probably be buying. But I know what your saying about the history. I have every receipt of everything that the car has had done since it left the factory, even have the invoice for the car when it was first bought. Think I will start looking into preventative maintenance.

The depreciation on new cars is quite a lot each year, and when you think about it, I could by a newer, used car but have lots more problems, and expensive problems than I would have with the Ibiza.

Not much of an update but i hit 132k in the Ibiza yesterday on my way to work.

And I have to say it is still going strong!!

Also Ive had a thought or 2. As some of you know I need to treat some of the rust in my engine bay (few pages back in this thread), and well it will need painted after. So Im thinking maybe I should just paint the whole engine bay?!

Woop!

Yeah, just do the whole bay, won't be too hard. Plus if it's ready done, means you won't have to do it when you do a conversion :p

Update:

I am not happy with the handling of the Ibiza. Best way to describe it is that it isnt balanced somehow. Even when going in a straight line it sometimes doesnt feel right.

Ive checked tyre pressures and they are ok, no leaking coilovers and the wheel bolts are tight. Tyres have loads of tread left on them.

Going to check all the bushes etc at the weekend but it is sort of pointing towards the steering rack on the way out :(.

On a good note!!! Managed to get myself a set of sideskirt end-caps for a whole £8.20 so that is going to be one of the next jobs to get mine fitted.

Starting to get bored and lose interest in the car currently.

Maybe things will change after my car comes out the bodyshop in a few weeks. Due to go in a week on Wednesday and I have to say I cant wait.

But after this I dont know what to do

Yep I suppose I could do that. I would love to get myself a valver or a mk3 cupra but right now I cant, with needing an everyday and the 1.4 Mk2 fits that bill, been getting 45mpg out of it recently :funk:.

But I dont know what I can change or do different or next :banghead2.

Sory about the end caps lol. Now I just need to figure out the skirts connect/join them etc .

Looks good, but if you're getting bored, here's some ideas:

A good detail, get it uber shiney (looks filthy in the 2nd to last pic :p)
Lower
Sideskirts
Maybe a change of colour of wheels or different wheels?

Then drop in a different lump :p

Does need a good clean but I will do that once it is out the bodyshop and after Im back from my holiday in 2 weeks time. The 'filthy' look is all the insects that decided to fly into my car on a 20 mile drive home before the pictures were taken.

I have some side-skirts ready to go on. Been thinking of new wheels and/or refurbing the Oz's.

Different lump may happen next year! :p!

you thought about fitting the opening side windows? ive done it and is well worth it! there are plenty of mk2`s with them being broke at the moment, even kezz has all the bits you will need. i bought a rivnut tool to put the hexagonal nuts into the body and you will need all the interior panels that go around the rear quarters. hardest part was getting the old windows out. smashed one of them thinking it will be easy, big mistake as glass went everywhere so cut the other one out. alot easier.
