Condensation in Lights

Hmm i don't think they like me then!

My car was there because it vibrates at idle. It did the same last year and they replaced the DMF and flywheel.

I got car back from the dealers after giving it in yesterday. Apparently the 'technician' coudln't find anything wrong with the car. They said that the vibration is only very minimal and they would only look at it further if it got worse!!

Obviously i was pissed off. After a bit of arguing, they asked me to drive the car to see if i could replicate the problem. After a quick drive around the block the mechanic admitted there was a problem with the car and they booked it in next wednesday for 3 days, as they have to remove the gearbox [:@] [:@]
so you have 3 flywheels? or do you mean DMF and Clutch? back to topic anyway:whistle:

Well, i got my vent kit fitted today, and can kinda tell the differnce already, took the back cover off one of the lights and their was this little box with cables in it that i have never noticed before.Their is still a little bit of condensation in their but the service guy said it will take about a day to fully dry out. And they even cleaned the car for me as it was filthy with saves me doing it at the weekend with is a bonus. Anyway, ill keep you updated on them over the next week.

I got my Local dealer (Stoneacre in Doncaster) to sort mine after alot of bickering and bullcrap from them, they finally took it to have a look. After a couple of hours in the showroom staring at a LCR, they gave me my keys back and told me they could book it in for the following thursday, but would need it over night. Which meant missing a day of work

I took it in on the thursday, and picked it up 4pm on the Friday. The lense was all clear and all looked gravy, took it home, parked her on the drive and DING, foggy as ever :(

Ive also noticed a couple of stitches that have popped out on the passenger bolster, couldnt be 100% whether or not it was like that before, but pretty darn sure it wasnt [:@]

Ive emailed Seat UK in complaint, and shall contact Trenton in Hull to see if they can clean up after Stoneacres mistakes

Kyle I know how you feel. They took mine it and played about with it, took pics, kept it at a certain temp over night cleared them out bla bla bla. Within an hour of me having it back the droplets were inside again. Finally got them to take it in and fit the vent kit, which they then discovered it already had! So they ordered a complete new set of lights with the kit attached and now there as clear as clear gets, so touch wood and all that kinda stuff hopefully now it's all good. Stick with it and complain a lot, it's the only way to get it sorted. Personally I think it's terrible you have to complain so much just to get a problem resolved. I almost ended up writting to the head office as well.

Asked my local dealer about this last week ;)

I was told that they have been sent loads of info from Seat about the problem and for me to call back next week once they have read through it!

The vent kit you refer to. Is part of the bulb access cover or the light unit its self? Only I was thinking of modifying the access cover on my driveside headlight to allow the light to 'breath' (this is the only one of mine that fogs)
Only reason I ask is that I have been driving round now for about a fortnight with access cover left off on the driverside headlight. It has not fogged up once since i've done this. However its not practical long term as damp air/water will get in the unit should it rain heavy etc while driving.

Well a quick update, after having the vent kit on for a week, there was still no difference and the lights continued to steam up. So i followed some advice from the post above this one. On tuesday, i took the covers off the back of both lights, drove to nuneaton and back (about 50 miles) left them off all day and guess what? no more steamy headlights. I put the covers back on on tuesday evening about 12.00 and they havent steamed up since so problem solved and if they do do it again then i will drill a few holes in the back of the cover to stop it.

Glad i could sort of help. And thanks spaniels fr and nickibizacupra for trying it too. At least i know it works.
I did put the cover back on mine last sunday but it has only been today with extreme in temperature has the light just started to fog again, so if it doesn't clear on its own then im gonna get the drill out and drill the cover.

Sorry guys, you all have it wrong. When I complained, my dealer actually told me what the cause of the condensation is.

Can you guess

Well, it’s because when the cars are assembled in Spain, the humid Spanish air gets trapped inside the light, and it’s a different humidity here which causes condensation. This is not a fault.

Apparently, I must look really stupid… All I can say is that it is bl**dy persistent this Spanish air, because every time I push it out with a hair dryer, it follows me round and jumps back in the headlights again.

Just a thought, on mine the drivers side gets more moisture inside, but clears quicker. (More damp air / moisture allowed both in and out?) Also there appears to be water marks on the access cover, as if water has been splashed up onto the light whilst driving. These marks are closer to the indicator side of the lamp. I may drill a vent hole in this cover myself, but I would be tempted to keep it closer to the radiator side rather than the indicator side. I hope this makes sense!

I get condensation in my Leon headlights. I'm going to put a couple of those silica gel packets in the lights for a bit and see if that helps.

I tried these before i removed the covers mate. Didn't stop it. Well it did where the silica gel was but that was it. Plus you can't fix these in the ibiza light unit where the moisture starts as the white packets reflect the light from headlight.
