Complaints from passengers - bumpy ride

Does anyone elses passengers complain about the awful ride in their Leon?, in particular FR and Cupra owners?

Driving down the A19 and A1 last night the Mrs was moaning again that she hates the ride in my car, it was so bumpy that her mobile phone was shaking when she was trying to text someone.

As a driver I don't really notice the ride is bumpy and I blamed it on the bad road surfaces.

Does anyone else have similar complains from passengers?

My parents both think the ride in my Cupra is a bit harsh. At some points they actually feel sick. I sometimes also think it's not too good on poor surfaced roads and some 'B' Roads.

I bought the car for my enjoyment, so unfortunatelty people who don't like it can either put up with it or use their own car.

I think the Cupra rides far better than my FR!!!!! After 4000 miles Im getting really really hacked off with it Still love the rest of the car tho . . . .

I used to have the ibiza cupra and now have the leon fr, the ride i think is excellent in comparison, if you have the 18'' wheels it makes it a little bumpy but i think its more then bearable

yep im on 18's. i had a lowered alhambra with 18's before this - maybe i have just forgotten how rough THAT was

The ride on a track would be sublime,its the shitty roads....my missus has never complained,then again she has a fat arse to cushion the bumps

i blame the crap roads throughout england. I went to scotland and wales in my old ibiza and the stiff ride wasnt a problem as over there the roads are actually decent without a football sized hole every 50 feet

I used to have an Alfa 147 with sports suspension, the FR is like a limo by comparison.

The rides a bit jiggly at very low speed but otherwise I find it works well, apart from certain awfull roads that all cars seem to have trouble with. I'm used to stiff suspension though, cars with overly soft setups and body roll make me feel a bit sick now, I don't like being able to feel a car rolling from side to side on the suspension.

I've always thought the FR's felt firmer than the Cupra's.

We used to have an Ibiza TDi FR and when we got shot of it for an LCR I went to a Prodrive freeby day with SEAT UK. The Ibiza Cupra's they had to test were much more compliant and less crashy than my previous FR.

I can't tell whether its a reflection of the lower cost of the kit they may put on the FR's, or just a bad damper / spring match.

You get used to it, but all my passengers used to say they thought it was excessive. If our roads were good it would be fine, but they're rubbish.

Yep, hate it ... very bouncy / hard ... really bad.

As a driver you get used to it, but sometimes you just wish it was softer.... passengers you usually end up saying sorry to them alot

Of course, soon as you end up on a twisty B road ... you just forget all about the harsh ride as you enter corners so much faster than you would be able to with other cars...

My feeling exactly. Although considering prior to buying my FR I'd read that the 18" alloys make it harsh, I'm yet to find so to be honest.

Depends on where you live/drive I suppose, and the surrounding road quality.

Ride was the main reason for my switch of motor-vehicle.

Rear passengers thought I was travelling at the speed of light no matter how slow I went... Prolly cause they are sat right over the rear axle.

Re 17s & 18s - I had an FR on 17s as a courtesy car. After dropping that off and picking mine up (with 18s) I noticed no difference... Honestly, whats an inch here or there?! A question many men have asked, no doubt. Apart from Flak Donkey, of course!

I cursed the ride of my FR the whole way home following my appendectomy... SWMBO also found an uncanny knack of hitting every pothole. Bless her. I wanted to strangle her.

They aren't sports cars, though. They are hot hatches.

Sports cars should:

1) Be RWD
2) Be 2 seaters - at a push 2+2
3) Preferably mid-engined...
4) V6

Sticking hard suspension and a turbo charged engine in to a family car chassis does not a sports car make...

No matter how you look at it...
